The knock sensor will pick up noise from just about any larger metal object that is clunking around in the drive-line from tranny to hubs, and even some accessories can set it off.. but first you need to determine if you're getting real knock or another object is making noise and setting off your knock sensor... It's just a microphone so it will pick up any noise in it's frequency range and relay it to the ECU, it's not always knock that's causing you a pain in the ass

Because of mitsubishi's over active knock sensor and it's circuitry in teh ECU that made me go with a stand alone, i hated being fast one second, then stepping on the gas teh next time and only having 5* of timing and building a ton of boost but not moving. I drove for probably the last 8 years with out a knock sensor, just this past fall i put in a J&S safeguard knock sensor and even it gets effected by the noises in the other parts of the car, just not as bad as a factory mitsu one does.

will the j&s knock sensor work with my stoc ecu? and where and how much is it?
