first off, I am posting in this forum because this is where I found part of my answer...but please move if it's in the wrong place.

I have a 2g which means I have 4 wires going to the TPS. the q45 tps has one pig tail w/ 3 wires and a short harnes w/ 3 wires. So far what I've been able to find is the the short harness is for the actual TPS and the pigtail is for the "idle validation circuit". I'm not sure what that means but I found it on some supra forums. I know that the difference between the 1g and 2g tps is that the the 4th wire (which ells the ecu if the throttle is closed) is seperate on a 1g. Could this be the same thing as "idle validation"?

So far this is the info I have come across as far as wired and what they are for:

q45 tps harness (not the pigtail):
-Red is the 5 volt input wire
-White is the TPS signal wire
-Black is the sensor return wire

2g tps harness:
1 - Green/Yellow (+5v Sensor Power)
2 - Brown/Red (TPS output voltage)
3 - Yellow/Red (IPS switch)
4 - Black (Ground)

Ok so I'm still a little confused on what wires to connect so if anyone has experience or more info t add I would appreciate it.

Looks good, you should find a grommet for the trunk though around the cable you have running into it.

LOL at first I was like huh I thouht you were talking about the manifold. yeah I have the stock grommet I just left it out cause the wire isn't secore yet because I'm going to be running my nitrous line along with that ling but wrapped up to be safe. Once I'm done that I'll put the grommet back in. I'm more worried about getting this thing to run and see how the manifold works. I already talked to mike about his if this doesn't work out though.

Bringing this back, I read through the whole thing. I was wondering what is the best way to identify the q45 throttle bodies that had traction control? I was told they have a stepper motor and will not work. Does anyone have a picture of one?

I have a q45 throttle body waiting to be installed, there is a part on it that looks like it is for idle purposes and has a spring wound around it, I won't be using this to set my idle(I will set idle stop at about 1200 because of my cams). is there any reason not to remove it?

Hi, I just saw this mega-thread.
Are you talking about the thicker spring that doesn't move with the throttle plate? That's for the mechanism that raises idle speed when the motor is cold. It can be removed.

Haven't found answers to my questions yet. I have a race ported head with 280 cams, manley springs, and 1mm oversized valves. I am thinking about going to a JMFAB or Magnus intake manifold. If i go to this, i want to increase the throttle body because that is a bottle neck in these cars. If so, will dsmlink for a 1g be able to control the idle for a Q45? Also, what is the install process for a Q45 on a 1g, how is the TPS hooked up? I would like people who have a Q45 hooked up on their 1G to respond please. Thanks

Dsmlink will work fine. You just have to cut off your stock tps connector and splice the wires into the q45 tps connector. You should leave about 3" of wire on the q45 connector so you can do this. There is just +5V, power, and ground.

Still wondering who the braniac was that merged my thread because the 420a is so different than the 4g63 and my thread had info on other stuff too now I can't even find it to tell people where to look and I started the dam thread :notgood:

ANyway the q45 has a pigtail that comes out the top of the TPS you cut and splice into those wires. Dsmlink has the ability to change the idle and tps adjustablity so you can idle and run fine with it on. CHeck the link forums for more info. I posted on there too.

Well, don't you have to have link in order to use their forums? I heard link can do an okay job, but it still has a crazy idle sometimes.

I dont need it yet. HAHA. I am building a talon hopefully for spring/early summer. I will get it once i get close. But, if you think a Q45 will be kept tame by dsmlink, i guess i will go that route.

Hi all,

I got a good deal sealing my Magnus intake manifold and I'll be adding few $$$ only to get JMF race manifold instead, also my close friend will give me a clean Q45 TB for free :D .. The question is: Is it worth going for JMF mani with Q45 TB flanged? or it is NOT worth and just use my current 1G bored 63mm TB?. BTW I'll be ordering ETS 4" FMIC kit with JMF intake so if it is worth I'll go for 3" UICP instead of 2.5".

Any advice highly appreciated.

If your profile is up to date (2.3 stroker, EMS, etc.) I'd say go for it. What turbo is on the car?

I'm sealing the FP Green with street FMIC Kit and upgrading to either FP T4Z 88HTA or FP GT35HTA in T3 .82 A/R not yet decided :sosad:. I have all the supported parts for those turbos and I'll get the turbo setup along with the ETS 4" FMIC Kit.

I'm using a Q45 throttle body but I cannot tell the difference with or without it because I added that along with my race SMIM together. But don't believe that BS running around that is can add 20-40hp. If it could you need other stuff along with that a big turbo, proper internal mods, etc... Point being that a wider throttle body only increases the airflow.

You wont need a q45 tb unless you are going to have more than 1000+ hp. my cousin is running one on his car and its been giving him more problems than its worth although he just went 9.63 , 2 weeks ago =)

It's working alright for me, just got to manage his engine.

Big throttle is the least of one's worries. It all depends what you have and what you're shooting. 400-500hp Mustang throttle body and anything over that Q45.

The people that don't see any difference probably have un ported heads or are feeding it with 2.5" ic piping which is a waste. This is is more of a 3" ic piping P7P head smim big turbo mod that will help you out if your already maxed out your currewnt tb. That or if you just like to overbuild your setups :sneaky:

Not sure if anyone has this problem, but I have a Magnus Race Intake manifold flanged for a Q45. When bolted up the TPS sticks out beyond the the face of the throttle body and interferes with the flush mounting of my throttle body to the Intake. the flange on the magnus is fairly thick, leaving me considering grinding out the area on the flange that contacts the TPS. I really dont want to mess up the brand new manifold but I want it to function. I thought about making a spacer but want eliminate the possibility of leakage by introducing another location for it to leak. This is just one of many problems i will face on this install but was hoping for some input.

Then you have it on backwards?
