Turbo Kit advice

Hi all!
I've got a problem here, I actually have the chance to buy a Hahn Stage II
off someone for around $2000
He says it comes with mostly everything, it's just missing one oil line from the turbo to the back of the block and a bov. It's comes with FMIC/piping, Manifold and 16g turbo, FPR, downpipe, etc....
Anyways I told him my motor was stock, with 110,000miles on it and he says I should run no more than 8psi and that 8psi would be fine to run on my car with everything stock.
I asked him about fuel because i figure that i cannot use the stock fuel pump and what not.
but he says with the fuel pressure riser that's included, that i can use the stock fuel system.
Any ideas?
I've searched around and gotten some general ideas but I just wanted some current feedback from the boosted experienced 420A guys

Post the pix. And 2k seems kinda high for a used kit.

Yeah I agree, 2k is pretty high for an used kit, not to mention an incomplete kit. I have seen many used complete kits for 1,500 or so pop up so I definitely wouldn't spend much if any more then that depending on the set-up of course.

As for whether the you will need to modify an more of the fuel system I can't comment as I have not boosted a 420a yet, but on a completely stock fuel system (so exclude the FMU) I wouldn't even run 1 psi. The stock system is not something to boost on.

You will probably need a walbro 255, FMU/SFMU, injectors (turbo dsm injectors (450cc) will probably be fine.)

Offer $1200. If he says no, walk away. An incomplete Hahn kit is not worth 2 grand.

I would piece a kit together anyway. I could piece together a kit that would take some working like with piping and such for 1500 that would smack a hahn 16 or 20g kit. They get you because it's cookie cutter and all you need is a socket set and basic knowhow to install it. If you have 2k to invest which you must if your even thinking about this save it and piece it together.

Here's just so you don't think I"m bsing you:

Ebay fmic w/ piping and bov $230 shipped(they have these all over and ebay IC's have been proven to do just as good as name brand ones for moderate hp levels)

Turbo: This is the big ? in the equation. This can jack your kit up or down it all kinda depends on what you want to do but I will leave this out but at the end you'll see my point still

Lines: Line kits can be had with the turbo usualy but if not maybe 150 for feed and return

Turbo manifold: Basic t3 log style can be had for 175 shipped or you can get a internal gate hahn style for cheap(I sold mine for 120 shipped)

FUel: You can get a areomtotive afpr for like 150 with the fittings too on the classifieds and then you don't have to mess with fmu and all that cheap crap.

Missing link/fcd just get a hoold of paul both might run you 80 bucs for both

So that's
230 + 150 + 175 + 150 + 80= $785

So that leaves you with $1215 for a turbo and downpipe. If you wanted injectors yyou might even be able to squeez them in there too. So needless to say a 2k hahn kit is overpriced

I woud listen to what Slippi just said.

It may take a little more time to assemble the kit, but with the money you save you could use towards a built motor.

You don't need both, you need one or the other. FCDs are known to be the better performer so look into those.

You also forgot gauges, pod or gauge holders, walbro 255lph hp pump, some sort of external wastegate if the turbo doesn't have it (the $175 manifolds you mentioned are probably the STAR knockoff ones that have a flange on them for an external), and misc. gaskets/fittings/etc.

An Aeromotive AFPR kit will not be enough for a fuel system on these cars. An FMU is the cheapest solution for raising fuel pressure to run boost and they range from $50-100 for a Vortech. Next step up from that would be an SFMU setup or something like the Hahn Portfueler, MSnS, or AEM F/IC.

If you are attempting to piece together a turbo kit, expect to spend 1500-2000 total for a good, but basic setup.

Reason I listed those fuel systems were so he knew what was availiable and could research what would be the best option for himself. I never said anything about the fuel systems being included in a Hahn kit.

Got ya I didn't want him to think that those things did come with the kit though making him think that the hahn kit is better than it really is.
