yea so my cars got like 100,000 miles on it, what are some good plugs to be using? i was thinkin bosh 4s but someone told me they would be bad for my car..

It's time to change spark plugs. So which ones should I get? What's the best choice and can be found locally?

best choice would be what your plannign to don with your car. but ngk's are awesome. go to your local autozone and pick some up they range from 8-12 doallrs a piece. or you could get some on ebay

ngk BRP7ES these are a step colder than the recommended and wil ltake to race fuel or incrased boost really good

ngk BRP6ES these are recommended if your close to stock.

I have been using the NGK BPR6EY (those are the V-Power plugs).... :thumb: They have been great on my car... you can find it on autozone or pep boys also for a dollar... I guess the price is the same than for the ES plugs or maybe EY will be cheaper...

I am boosting 14-15Psi with stock fuel pump and injectors, with out any plugs problems...

good luck!

Also available elsewhere, (some parts stores as well). The stock ones are actually BPR6ES but many people step up the the BPR7ES supposedly good if you're running higher then stock psi. For some reason these seem to be the best plugs for our cars. hands down.

I've had great luck with the NGK Iridiums, like the bpr7eix
I had some Iridium 6's and liked them a lot too. I haven't convinced myself to shell out the coin for a set of 7's yet, though.

You'll no doubt here people bad-mouth the Iridiums, but there's nothing wrong with them except that they're expensive. People sometimes confuse them with platinum plugs, which are not recommended for this engine.

Not badmouthing iridium plugs or platinum plugs in general...both are great plugs. However for the 4G63 a set of copper plugs is a better choice.

This is based on several reasons. First the heat transfer specs of the individual plugs is different. The copper plugs will be better between sparks and move you a little away from preignition. This won't be so noticable with an AFC but will make a difference if you have a more advanced fuel computer that allows you to control spark advance.

Second you will be running the engine very rich...just what the engine usually likes. Because of this you will have more luck using a cheaper plug and replacing it more often. Just makes things a bit cheaper.

Sorry for postin so much but I am excited about my car. Not impressed with it too much yet but slowly figuring things out. .I have read about the only plugs to use are NGK BGRP6ES's... I have put in NGK iridiums about 1 weeks ago. Was this a bad move and should get the ones specified by everyone.. Thanx

Yes the NGK plugs are the only thing you should run. I tried the Iridium plugs and they worked ok for a few weeks then they fouled out. I got a new set of NGK and wala the car ran all happy again and could actually run higher then 10psi without miss fireing like mad.

Iridium plugs are meant primarily for non-force-inducted motors, and for those whose spark plug changes are a major undertaking (whose designers will spend eternity in hell, slowly revolving on a spit).

Yes, sorry. I didn't mean to imply there's anything wrong with iridiums in a turbo'd car (as there is with platinums), only that they're much more expensive for reasons that don't apply to a DSM whose plugs are nice and accessible (perhaps as an apology for everything else jammed under that hood).
Apologies for the confusion.

Iridiums aren't the plug I would go with.
Stock BPR6ES
Modified BPR7ES
Super Modified BPR8ES

First reason would be because of the price compared to your normal 6's or 7's.
Second reason would be because of the amount of problems I've fixed by simply changing from Iridium plugs to 7's (modified cars).

If you run platinums in your car, don't you dare post that you're having problems (anyone). Especially since everyone that has a problem with spark plugs on this site gets told to NOT run platinums.

Anyone ever heard of Zex Spark Plugs ?

If so are they any good to run on turbo eclipse's ?

Supposedly they are good for boost & nitrous applications.

Let me know asap !!

thanks !
