Hello, my name is Javier I always wanted a get a gst back in high school. So I'm kinda new to this. I own an 03 Evo gsr w/ 462hp & 396tq. Last year on new year eve my Evo finally gave up on me. It threw a rod. I guess it got tired being in the dark. Then it cause a chain reaction damage from timing belt snapping so it a goner. It put a hole in the block the size of a coke can and a hair line crack from cyl 1-3. So I went out and pick up a 95 2g gst w/160k stock no mods except a drop in. Paid 1200 for it it not prefect it grinds in 2nd gear only when it hot outside but when it cold it shift in smooth. And also it has an oil leak near the oil filter, oil pressure unit. Is that a common problem that need replace. Also the heater don't work a/c does what other common problems can cause that before I start ripping out the core. I change the radiator fluid w/ a major flush. Thanks guy I've been owning Mitsubishi since I was 15year old and I'm 25 and only had two since then. So what other problem I can get a heads up on cause it a totally different beast any pointer would help. Thanks a lot

Nope theyre basically the same cept the 2g is fwd and has a smaller turbo. And the 2g ecu is not flashable.

As for the oil leak, check the sending unit for holes as they take hits from road debris. If thats not it, wrap the threads in thread tape and reinstall

You'll find out all the little things soon enough. Door handles break super easy. Coolant temp sensor will cause weird problems. Just do all the proper maintenance. Fluids,Boost leak test, turbo shaft play, belts etc... Good luck man. There is a unlimited amount of info on this forum. Most of the time you can search any question you can think of , chances are someone has experienced it in the last 20 years.

Correction, THAT 2g ecu is not flashable. 97-99 is flashable.

Well, the older style 4G63 (six-bolt) is the strongest 4G they ever made. Bet you don't pop a con-rod through that block :)

I hope so to. But a least I getting better gas mileage. But when I'm done with my Evo. I'll rebuild the engine on the eclipse, since all the part are cheaper then the Evo.

But today I flush out the heater core and it was clog with rust & old anyi- freeze. And it still not blowing hot any idea. Thanks

By the way my Evo was on stock block with 213k miles on it.

Mine did the same with the heater I checked the thermostat and previous owner had cut it out and put the ring back instead of replacing it
