I bought a 97' gst at 94,000 thousand miles realizing that things would eventually go wrong and that it was going to be an investment. I'm at the point where I want to know what is the best way to ensure that my engine does not break down. Should I have this block rebuilt? Should I buy a remanufactured engine? Or do I just need new heads? I don't know, I'm not an expert. I don't have all the money in the world but I want to know what is the best course of action relative to the amount of money I would want to spend. Please some who knows e-mail me. I want this car to be serious and I don't want to cut corners. :dsm: :D

Just win a few races and you should have some cash to soup up your car. LOL
(note the forum this is in)

a '97? i thought they only had '95 gt eclipse's in the used car area. and 125k i think it would have passed, but do an oil change and you still might get 10hp. LOL

this is the gt4 and forza forum :tease: :tease:

Hey, As you can see, you need to repost this in another spot, As for the miles on your 2g and what to do, drive it like you stole it and when it blows up or crankwalks build it up with a good set of berings and head studs, if you really want, you can buy a good 30-60 thousand mile JDM engine off ebay(6 bolt ot 7) (I would go with the 6 bolt if you take that route to avoid crankwalk later).
But as long as you take care of your engine with clean oil, a good tune(I do not see an afc, so I guess you do not have to woory about that) do not overboost it without the proper fuel mods done. And it should last you a long time even if you run it good and hard with the boost a little raised. The only thing that your engine is weak on is crankwalk, aside from that, as long as you have a good t-belt etc... your can should be able to take a hell of a beating and live to talk about it for a long time, our engines really are that strong. :dsm: :thumb: :talon:
P.S. I am on my third DSM and this one has 136k on it(stock block and head) and I run high 12's all day long, the one before had 145k when I sold it and was still running strong and it had Nos on it, with 20-30 passes down the 1/4
