How to unlock cars for arcade/2p mode?

In GT3, if you won the arcade mode races, you unlocked more cars for arcade mode. But in GT4, its different. Id like to have a wider variety of cars for arcade mode and 2 player for when my friends and I play. Anyone know how to unlock them?

The only way to get more cars in arcade mode is to actually purchase them in Gran Turismo mode, the only way to get tracks from what I have seen is to just let time elapse in GT mode. Hope you've been saving up and burnin through the calander.

Esxactly, I took time to do all the license tests(except super) and when I exited the screen to save it, it popped up the unlocked track screen like 4 times.
