Hi all,
just finished my HE 531V build and took her on drive on first time... car was pretty slow spooling but didn´t cared .
second day after fixing some oil and coolant leaks drove her again.. and again she won´t spool at all.. But thought its becasuse my 60mm silnecer in muffler .. removed him and :sosad: she spooling 15psi at 6200rpms/30psi 7300rpms.

Thought /Is there any chance I assmebled my turbo wrongly?? But center section and ex side is assembeled without issues... without any "play" and the big V-band which holding together center section with ex side is tight. so my vanes can move easily. Is there any chance my VGT no working.. cus tried fix VGT in both End positions and spool changed maybe about 200rpms at 15psi at 30psi didn´t changed at all..

anyone got experience with this BIG boy HE531V?? why smaller he351V working and this one won´t ??
I know this turbo comes from 12l engine truck.. but they spool full boost at 1500rpms or something..

2.0l / E85/Bosch 2200ccs
LOG 01 is with silencer and VGT opened
02 is NO silencer and VGT opened
03 is NO silencer and VGT closed

It's basically an HX52/55 with VGT.. the truck it came on may spool it by 1500rpm, but its out of steam before 2000. There's also 12L worth of exhaust to work on it.

Make sure you have no intake/exhaust leaks, and then try playing with the VGT some more.

3" exhaust may be a bit small too.

No matter what you do.. these are HX52/GT42R/S400sx size turbos, and with an >85mm turbine even VGT is only going to help so much.

You will need some RPM to get them the exhaust flow required to light off.

yeah.. its basically bigger brother of HX52
as for wheels dimensions
65/98 - 86/77
Since I know HX52 can spool 35psi at about 5500rpms, thought VGT can affect spool some and gain at least 500rpms

running new 3.5" turbo-back exhaust

Once she hit 30psi she pulling like truck! but I wanted 35psi by 5k rpms..:sosad: its street driver not Drag car with 11k rpms..
I can shift at 9k rpms.. but wanted my power band more to the left side..:|

Confusing is spool characteristic not changing when moving with VGT  They said VGT is able make from 0.42ar to 2,xxAR hotsidethats big difference so why it won´t affect?

I think I can´t screwed assemling my turbo/talking about assembling center section w ex side together.. center won´t go inside ex side on first try..I just moved back and forth and then it clicks and was inside, then just put o V-band and done. easy..

THANKS!

Okay, just solved my problem..
Did BL test and found Two bigger leaks.. that helped 300rpms :)

Then I just thought I should fix my VGT to Closed position during my pull.. In past I controlled VGT via MHI 11psi Internal gate.. / Once she spooled to 11psi VGT opens and slowed spool up.. Voila... she spooling 15Psi at 4200rpms(same as my bw s366) and 30psi at 4600rpms(s366@5200rpms! )
here you can see print screen of my log..

@ you can add me :thumb:

Love it.. pulling like freak!

What Iam going to do now is find out best effeciency /best VGT position for best top end. My dyno day is within 3weeks!

have you thought about controlling the vgt with a manual boost controller in line with the internal wastegate. Glad you got her all figured out, bet she sounds nasty.

Yes.. thts the way Ia going First thought using Boost by gear via Link to control it .. but that could be pain.. iam just wanna VGT closed until at least 22psi and then move VGT.. but how far tell me dyno..:thumb:

its really like 20G car now :hellyeah: Iam Happy:rocks:

Thanks!

My firends diesel VGT controller was an adjustable stop and a spring. Set the stop so the blades couldn't close to far, then used a spring to hold it against the stop. As exhaust pressure built it would open the VGT. Little bit of experimenting with spring pressures and it was a done deal. Worked great.

I believe there are a few youtube videos of this floating around.

Good luck sounds like a sweet setup! :thumb:

THX Guys,

Now I just removed my "VGT fixer" set my boost by gear ecm link (ecu based boost controll) and put helper spring on VGT.. well.. not worked at all.. the ex gasses opening VGT during spool up  the put second spring and I get 15psi at 43300rpms/30Psi right after 5k rpms.. but then with every single pull spool up slows.. looks like springs are weak and they stretched bit.. Now Iam on 15psi at 4700rpms and 30psi at 5600rpms..
Would be great get 30psi right before 5k rpms at least...

adding first and last logs w springs .. you can see how spool slows even I added lotta timing and enriched afs during spool up..of course you can see how my boost by gear duty works..

Sounds like you need a heavier spring, with more rated travel? We need some video of this thing! It's gotta make some nice noises!

Yeah.. just find some GOOD spring.. and Iam done...:thumb:
have to tell you today I thought some old woman collapsing.. wasn´t even funny.. Was in second gear and WOT her... and during the road was "metal fence" so the noise was even stronger and once she spool and pulled ..the noise she did the woman just catch railing and went down to her knees.. WAS OMFG.. checked mirrors if she is okay..:( luckilly she was..

but as for vid.. have to find some good camera guy LOL)
