I did do a quick search and yeilded these results

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tur...ys-think-td05-20g-comp-wheel-housing-kit.html

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/226581-20g-compressor-wheel-16g-turbo.html

My questions have nothing to do with will it fit? What needs to be done to get it in there? ECT. Looking for answers from people who have tried this bastard 20G setup.

Car is gonna be DD and 4-6 drags year

Currently the car has

Auto trans

16G/VRSF FMIC/550cc/EVO valve train/HKS 272/272/v3 link/N/T TB

Planned parts FP Race mani/evoIII intake/1150's/E85 tune/Forced four programable shift box/IPT $400 torque converter (to lazy to look up)

So here's my questions?

Will this turbo have a significant decrease in boost to red line? (planning for 30lbs)

does it surge? (what can be modified to help this)

Plan to keep it stock appearing so no e. wastegates/ So I can race in a stock appearing class

Does it really just act like a hot hairdryer?

Just wanna know the best thing to do so I can do it right the first time. Also I have the funds to get an HTA68. Just wanted to try this first sine I already have a blown evoIII turbo laying around that needs a rebuild.

Ill add more questions as I go or they come up thanks in advance

The housing will need to be machined in order to fit the 20g wheel (14/16g) jpipe style (td05h) housings, or you can buy a already machined, or a td06 compressor cover (down firing). Either one of those are your options.

Will your boost taper off at high boost (30) simply put yes. The turbine is too small, and your intercooler has pressure drop. Now if you run a hot pipe (no intercooler) then I don't see why it would not, as Lucas Racing runs no intercooler (with meth) and maintains 30psi until redline.

Will it surge? That depends on your setup. I have a TD05 shaft with a 20G wheel, and it surged on me. So I bought a anti surge housing from ebay, and it solved my surging issues. (note, I am seeing 52lbs a min) with this setup.

Im gonna by a machined one on ebay and have justin put the whole thing together using a mitsu 20G wheel not the one sold in the kit.

Did the anti surge housing cover look stock? (J-pipe) In our stock apearing class were only able to run TD05 housing variations so thats why I wanna try this out.

No, it's a TD06 down firing. Also, that wheel that comes with the kit, is actually a good wheel. That is the one I am using.

I too have a e3 16G that I will be rebuilding soon and thought about trying the modified eBay housing and 20g wheel. I'm running a 2.4L so spoolup time should be very quick.
I will be running on the crappy pump gas we have here (91 octane) so I'm limited on how much boost I will be running. Can you elaborate on the surge issues you experianced? Did it happen at a specific boost level?

^ It use to surge about 22-25psi and at part throttle. So I bought the 3" Anti Surge housing from ebay, and problem solved.

Pm jusMX141, or pj umm I forgot the rest. They will be able too hook you up with a 20g wheel in any 14b, or 16g.
We've already been talking about doing this for the past month, Bud. Thanks anyway.

He's asking specifics, not who can do it.

OK, so would something like this be what you have then? And this will replace an e3 16g cover and wheel?

Both are the same thing, same sellers just different names LOL, but yes you are dead on, that is what I have. And yes, it will replace the TD05H (jpipe) cover, and wheel.

Awesome.. I'm going to give it a try.
Sorry for sorta jackin' your thread OP since you did specify you are required to have a stock appearance which is not an issue for me. In your case it sounds like your best bet is the FP 68HTA.

Hahaha GTFO! J/K I would of threw this info on style but if you dont own an evo no one cares.:notgood:

As Justin has stated I plan on him doing the rebuild. Im just asking for just asking for RESULTS not if it can be done. Its gonna run about $400 so I just wanted to make sure I would yeild results and not just blow some hot air.

No worries thats why I posted the thread. To see what other people are doing to get these to work. Also, I know the HTA68 is probably my best option but this is a fraction of the cost. So it may be worth a try. I know theres people running the 20G in the TD05 just cant find those threads again.

Justin is there a way to modify the acuator to hold 30 psi?

Can this be done to the other 16g chra such as the small16g and big 16g ? or are all those chra the same just different wheel sizes? I ask because i am getting a 16g turbo this weekend and might do this upgrade to it as i will be maxing the turbo out regardless.

Also maybe a stupid question but im assuming i cant use the reverse 20g wheel right?

I assume the snap ring on the 16g is a bit easier to remove than lets say.... the holset "snap ring of death". I plan on buying this wheel and cover and installing them myself, and will most likely be rebuilding the 16g depending on its state, this seems a cost-effective solution to increase airflow and the money spent on buying a quality j-pipe is used to upgrade the housing and wheel. Anybody have installed pictures of this combination?

You guys took that all wrong.I was just saying don't bash either one. There is no problem with saving money.Come on were dsmers were all about saving money.

I was just saying don't bash people. I meant nothing other than that.

I completely agree. But I didn't bash anyone, and I will continue not to(unless they really deserve it :D).

I started typing my post before you posted those pics but ran out to get chinese food then hit "reply" LOL. Actually i was talking about pics with the downfiring tdo6 anti-surge cover installed, anybody cough up the $250 for a billet wheel? LOL

Austin made a 20G for a guy and it had the TD06 anti surge housing and the 10cm T3 turbine housing(I think). It was flowing 52 lbs/min last I heard.

Actually that was Ryan that did his own turbo, but I tell people about what the 20g flows and his is a great example. His consists of an antisurge 20g compressor cover, with a 7 cm turbine housing. The turbine wheel is clipped and flowing 52 lb per minute around 24-26 psi. My point was that a 20g capable of flow numbers of the 68hta. (unported, unclipped, 68hta 47lb per minute). Given the fact that Ryans is clipped, it has a little bit of an advantage, vs being able to compare just compressor wheels.
