amazing replicas. these parts probably cause holset, garrett, etc. a lot of trouble. "tourbo search" WTF shameless:

Just remember you get what you pay for. Most "Ebay" turbos are Chinese and, while they work okay, their longevity is nothing compared to authentic Garett, Holset, etc brand turbos. :thumb:

^ What he said. Some people have good luck with eBay turbo's. However, those are far and few between.

After seeing all the pte thrust bearing failures on here i would almost buy an ebay turbo before a pte.

i always had the mentality that ebay parts are junk and i STILL do even though my buddy who owns a custom race shop(mainly nissan) but he runs godspeed turbos all day in all his cars and even his race cars(skyline,240's) and they run really fast times..its just weird LOL..but i stay true and stay with genuine name brand turbos and other parts for my baby LOL

I've personally witnessed a Chinese GT35 knockoff which was so shitty that it blew somewhere around the 400-mile mark outlast a Turbonetics 60-1 on the same car.

I think the Chinese are on to something- if they'd only focus on improving quality a little instead of trying to be the cheapest out there. If they would make the turbines more durable, compressors more durable and lighter, and also balance the turbos fully-assembled on a VSR then the durability of these units would go up tenfold. How much can that honestly add to the price....$100? $150? So a $200 Evo III 16G will become $300-$350? If the quality could potentially be on-par with the turbo it's modeled after to begin with, it may completely change the aftermarket game.

Your friend is either not telling you something, or he has a huge horseshoe up his ass. . .

I've been running a CX Racing EvoIII on my car (DD) for about 4k mi. now with no issues. Zero shaft play, doesn't blow oil, spools quick (20psi by 3200rpm). I can't comment on the veracity but it also came with a balance sheet. I agree with the large scale QC issues but they seem to be getting much better. Probably learned a lesson from the EvoIII GT days. I personally feel like I got a good deal on a decent turbo.

The problem with Chinese parts is usually consistency. They do have the ability to make good parts. If you have 10 factories over there producing the same part number each with different dies and machine tools- that's when things start to get interesting. One guy is tooling over tolerance, one with under tolerance, etc. Then the parts get assembled by a third party, mixing and matching suppliers.

What amazes me is that they make parts so close to the scrap price of the metal they're produced from. I guess that's what happens when we send all our recycling to them because it's too environmentally dirty to process that in 'merica. :shhh:

my freshly rebuilt EVO III GT didnt have a problem until it sucked in a loose vacuum line the other day. My fault but just saying.
