Turbo Shipping

I just spoke to the guy who I baught my Holset from. He says he shipped it with the compressor housing in a seperate box because of what it would cost to ship it intact. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? He said he put packing in the box, but how concerned should I be about the compressor wheel being damaged when it arrives? It was shipped USPS Priority from Central America so that by itself has me worried.

Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but I'm sure it'll be moved if not.

Did you explain to him that the slight shipping difference would seem like peanuts compared to him buying you a new compressor wheel when you receive the turbo and all the fins are broken off?

^^^ Shipped my turbo from across the globe, and the peppermint he placed inside the compressor housing made it safe, not even a hairline fracture. The box looked like a cardboard ball, but then again, there are a lot of soccer players that work in postal warehouses that handle usps mail. As long as it's packaged properly, damage won't be an issue.

Reno, the compessor being stuffed with packing does me no good because the compressor housing is coming seprate from the rest of the turbo. The exhaust wheel is protected mostly from the exhaust housing since it's all intact. However the same was not done for the compressor side. The only thing between my compressor wheel and the bouncing around during shipping is whatever packing is in the box.

Well, I hope they packed it tight and duct-taped a styrofoam cut-out(like an end-cap) onto the compressor wheel, seems kinda common sense to me if I were to ship it. But anyways, I hope you receive it in great condition. It would not be good to hear you got damaged goods.
