FP 18G To run a oil restrictor or not?

I just recently purchased an fp 18g 6SL2 locally here in Lincoln, and I was told by a friend of mine (on his second fp 18g) that I should run a oil restrictor in the oil inlet line. I'm going to be feeding oil from the oil pump housing, does that make a difference?

Thanks
Rob

Don't use a restrictor on a journal-bearing turbo.

I would, however, run the oil feed to the head. I'm up to (5) journal-bearing turbos that passed through my shop in the last couple months that were destroyed by over-pressurized oil supply coming from the filter housing.

If you're in doubt, contact FP....but I've always assumed the head provides enough oil to keep 14B's alive for hundreds of thousands of miles on 1G's.

Run the RED FP filter to an 18g, sure. Do NOT run the BLACK restrictor / flter from the head. Journal bearings need far more oil than ball bearing turbos do. You will starve the CHRA for oil, and overheat the bearings if you run a restrictor.

I run a SS line from the filter housing to my FP 18g. Been that way for years now with no problems.
