You will need to replace 3 of 4 lines if you are down-sizing to a 13G... In my factory AT car (13G powered at the time) I had to swap out these same three lines when I was upgrading to a 16G:

Oil feed eyelet & banjo bolt are much smaller on the 13g center section
Collant feed & return also have different eyelets and banjo bolt sizes

The oil drain line is the only thing that can be reused but it will still need to be tweaked sightly in order to fit right.

IMO, it's a much larger investment just to end up replacing the lines as well as the turbo.

Why don't you just find a used 16g for sale in the classifieds and re-use all of the same lines that you are running now? Cost-wise, it would probably end up being around that same $$$ either way.

What tweaking did you do?

Nothing major, it needs to be bent into a slightly different position. There are some minor differences in the center sections as far as where the return line is positioned once it’s all bolted up to the exhaust manifold. The flex section of the oil return line will bend enough to accomodate the swap, no problem there.

If you bolt up the oil return line to the turbo & oil pan first, that would be your best bet in 'tweaking' just enough to allow everything else to bolt up.

Another thing is that if you end up rocking the 13G, you will need to port the heck out of the turbine housing as the 13g's turbine housing's inlet is considerably smaller then that of any other 14b or 16g's hotside. -That is unless you get the 13G with the tiny 1g AT exhaust manifold as part of the deal. -Again, IMO, it's not worth the headache/down grade... Hold out for a used 16g or 14b.

Ok. This is what I did. I didn't consider it tweaking. But really, it is. The return line has plenty of slack to bend for the accomodation though.

Not only is the 13g inlet smaller but it is also ofset. I don't theink there is any good way toi get a 1g or 2g manifold to work. The 1g a/t manifold is the only option.

BTW, I think the 13g has more potential than the rest of us give it credit. I'm not saying it's worth swapping to, but I am saying don't swap to another turbo until you reach the 13g turbo's limit.
