Small 16g limits
I recently picked up a 90 GS-T with a small 16g, 2g manifold and a buschur racing 2.5 inch 02 housing for $400... I want some setup ideas to push this little turbo as fast as it will go...all help would be appreciated as I have a $150 bet with a kid with a turbo escort who thinks that dsm's are junk and that he'll beat mine...help me put this kid in his place

190 fuel pump, set of evo 560 injectors, fmic with piping, manual boost controller, air intake, 3" exhaust, something to log with, and something to control the injectors. a wideband would be nice too. that should give you quite a bit of get up and go.
also dont forget to do the regular maintenance first.

You first need to start of the basics, like exhaust, air intake, boost controller, etc... Check out the TECH Section for upgrade paths.

I'd love to introduce him to my buddy's 2G TSi AWD. 136k on the STOCK 7-bolt motor (supposed to be junk) running 18-22psi; it's run consistent 12's for the past 4 years (ever since he bought it with 101k).
Let's see an Escort do that.

Take that junk turbo escort to the track and race him for $500, you will have no problem taking him out, but remember what everybody said, get all your supporting mods first

A good buddy of mine from Maryland owned a '97 GSX and sold it with a staggering 186k on the stock 7-bolt. No internal mods other than cams, and I think he was running a Bullseye V-Trim at 20-ish psi daily.
After the car sold he lost contact with the new owner, so we're unsure if the car's still on the road or still has the stock 7-bolt.

Yesterday i changed the water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt, spark plugs and wires...I just want to see what kind of power i can get out of this small 16g and stock 6 bolt.....I also want to inform everyone that this escort is somewhat fast, its fastest time at the track was a 13.2, I know that this gs-t is more than capable enough but I want an extremely strong setup, I will be tuning it using a vpc that i got off of my buddies 1g all wheel, i also have a punishment racing aluminum radiator and prothane motor mounts, as the factory ones were completely toast, it also has a 3 inch exhaust and i have a set of MH Racemaster slicks

I pushed my small 16g to over 36 lbs/min. What can you do with that amount of airflow?
. . . You havn't stated the escorts dyno number, 1/4mile speed/time. This leads me to believe that he hasn't told you . Do you know? You are "deadly eclipse" if you don't take it to the track. He doesn't need to go. Just show him a timeslip and tell him any real competition isn't afraid nor incapable of putting his car on the strip and documenting his results.

On 6 pounds of boost the escort made 200fwhp...now its tuned for 15 pounds...so your guess is as good as mine on what kind of power it makes...as far as mile an hour he traps around 110mph

I put down 397whp on my stock 6 bolt on a dynojet, only made like 350ish on a dynapack, the tuner told me his dynapack was low reading.
This was on 22psi and 94 octane.

Hell i would run him right now as your car sits, just buy a Boost controller turn it up to 14psi and run him from a dig.
Hell i ran a friend of mines GTO from a dig and had him to the top of 3rd till he started to reel me in but in 1/8 he would have got me by maybe 1 car and that was when i had 187,000 miles on my original motor and bone stock car w/ boost controller set at 14psi.
Run him this weekend let us know how it went, but only run him from a DIG, wich he probly wont since it's FWD and nobody wants to run from a dig anymore...panzys.

That quote is very true...I just wonder if a small 16g on a fwd has enough in it to run 12's? It's gonna be pretty hard to do
