Ive always wanted to switch my shitty boost spiking internal gate setup for a decent external gate setup. I only run a E316g and its not as much as big a deal, but I am going for as much performance as I can regardless the turbo, and its hard to get a clean tune when different gears/ temp's can cause the turbo to boost differently from day to day.
I.E. Sometimes spiking 25psi in 4th or 5th gear on a tune set for 24, but only hitting 23psi in 2nd gear. Stuff like that, makes the car not very consistent, and I have to tune a tad bit more conservatively for this very reason.
Anyways, my friend sold his gst spyder and was going to run external gate but never got around to installing it, and since now he has an MR2 he didnt need his external gate anymore, so lucky me he just gave it to me for free.
This I believe is the one I have,
eBay Motors: 38mm Turbo Wastegate 10psi Eclipse Talon Tsi Waste gate (item 150260805126 end time Jun-25-08 09:42:23 PDT)
Right now he said theres a 10psi spring in it, I plan to switch it out for the 14psi spring.
** Is it possible to add shim's in the external gate that can increase spring tension like youd do on a bov to make it hold more.
I was thinking I want like a 18psi spring for this thing but dont think they make them for this,
( if they do point me out. )
Id like to keep minimum boost closer to set boost; as I never turn my car any lower than 20psi anyways, and theoretically that should make boost control w/ a crappy mbc even better and possibly quicker spool/ more boost holding to redline, as my current flapper right now blows open at the pressures I run and I cant seem to get anymore than 21psi at redline even on a cool night regardless of how high I crank up boost.
Im sure Im running up near the 16gs boosting limits, but I know theres still more in it.
**Anyways anyone running that Ebay wastegate? Im not well read up on w.g. setups and I didnt see anything in the search.

Look for the one that reads-
(( Mild Steel Tial 38mm external wastegate recirculated o2 housing 2.5" exhaust elbow, fully tig welded ))
**Could I go better, or cheaper on o2 housings? Will 2.5 suffice.
I dont really want to dump o2, I run open DP anyways when my cutout is open so backpressure isnt as much as a factor here, and I dont need any more noise.

I'm getting 21 psi with just wastegate. So far I was able to get to 27psi
