Ok I have been down this road before but this time im looking for a little input on my decision. To give some back round here is what im looking for, a bolt on mitsu style exhaust housing with internal gate looking to make from 420-480 whp and I want to do it on pump gas with the help of meth if need be. Also i will be running anywhere from 25-30 psi and im looking for a full spool time of 4500-5000. Supporting the turbo will consist of a list of mods at the end of this post, most of my mods in my profile have changed. I have in the past ran a 20g, scm6152e and a holset hx40. Right now im looking the following turbos, sbr-g50et, sbr g60 with 4in cover, gt3076r from "the turbo trader" or once agian another scm6152 but with the sp cover. At the moment im leaning toward the g60 due to price but have always wanted the gt3076r. Any input is greatly appriated and any other options you guys may think of please let me know. thanks karl-

Theres' a thread in the hangout about how a guy just dyno'd around 470 on pump with a FP3052, which is a 3076R in FP's bolt on .68 A/R housing. That being said, I think FP's housings are larger than any other bolt on housing out there, which means it would make more power relative to similar other bolt ons, and the 3052 is only available set up for an external gate, so that crosses it off your list. SBR sells a few GT30R variants, but while they are about 300 cheaper than forced performance they are almost twice as much as the G60, how much do you want to spend when all is said and done?

I have an SBR G50 on my car. I am positive with race gas I am over 400whp. Based on the cars I could pull on before doing any weight reduction I would say I was around an 11.6 or so. Now I am going to try to get in the 10's with it on the stock bottom end. I am sure I will be able to get there with the weight I have taken out of the car and the new found traction.

Sorry, I meant that the smaller housings in the other bolt on turbos would hurt their power output, perhaps I wasn't clear enough on that one. Post edited for clarity now :thumb:

Holset HX-40 is the way to go.

The only thing I really doubt that with turbo/doesn't matter which one/, that make 420 -480 whp you would get away with internal gate - NO WAY. Prepare your self to go external off O2 housing as your only option. This also may save you some money if you don't order the internal gate initially. If you run constantly 30+ PSI, you would be fine with internal, but lesser boost, more air to waste/direct away from turbine wheel. It is your call.

Listen to Andy.

Go external for this level. And HANDS DOWN the hx40 in a bep housing is the cheapest turbo for way more than this goal on race gas. It can deliver better than your spool goal and WAY better than your hp goal. Pump gas will be a cinch. And spool speed will be at least as good as any bb garrett that will need race gas to do 500whp. And is just as reliable, reputable, and otherwize similar to a borg-warner turbo. Nobody can sell you a turbo for cheaper. An h1e or hx40 can be had for very little on ebay used. No warrenties, yes. But none needed. The holset track record speaks for itself versus others.

Thanks for all the input guys its really appriated. Now i have done the holset hx40 in a bep bolt on ousing and i did like it quite a bit dont get me wrong. I was just looking to try something new and its getting harder to find the bolt on housings for holsets anymore in good shape. I actually just aquired a schwitzer turbo from work the other day. Its a s200 series turbo but the exhaust wheel doesnt match up to anything that bullseye seems to sell. Maybe someone in here can shine some light onto what i might be exactly. this is how the name plate reads.

The best measurement i could get on the exhaust wheel are as follows, exducer 69.5mm inducer of 55mm. The compressor wheel has the measurements of a s256. 56mm and 80mm. It has the large style comp cover on it with the 4in inlet and anti surge ports or secondary feed ports what ever there called. Any ideas anyone?

Karl, If you need an o2 housing I have a EVO3 laying around that ported like a mofo..LOL. I also have a friend looking to sell his Holset HX40 Pro with a brand new BEP housing on it too.
