I'm gonna be removing my turbo soon as I need to replace it. Is it easiest to take it out with the manifold attached? Any tips or stubborn bolts I should know about? 2g T25

Gotcha.

I'm going to take it out with the manifold. Are there any certain gaskets I will need to pickup and replacing during the replacement of the turbo? I found a guy with a local turbo and its close to a Mitsu dealer so I want to make sure I have everything.

The guy also says the oil return line plate needs cleaned up a little. Any idea what he means or if I should be weary?

You will need a exhaust mani gasket, manifold to turbo gasket, and an o2 housing gasket. Just be sure to look over the turbo good before you buy it. Check out the oil return flange. Make sure it will seal good. I'm not sure what the guy means by it needs cleaned up.Maybe just some gasket material

Thank you. I assume the 02 housing and mani to turbo gasket need to be bought from the dealer, right? Is the metal manifold gasket not reusable? Is it common for the return line not to seal very well?

I came across these gaskets at the local parts website:

Are those anything I will need?

That is everything you will need except for the exhaust mani gasket. I recommend the metal one, and yes it is common for the oil return to leak, but i used the gaskets like shown in your pic above, and i have zero leaks;)BTW you will want some new crush washers.:)

Okay I've got EVERYTHING off and done EXCEPT for getting the oil feed line loose off of the turbo. Any tips for getting it off WITHOUT stripping it? I'd really like to reuse it. I can't seem to get a pair of vice grips in between there to grab it.

yea you should def replace those gaskets while you have the chance. also get a new exhaust mani to block gasket while you are in there:dsm:

Yeah I picked up all the gaskets and should be getting a turbo tomorrow. Now all I have to figure out is how to get the oil feed line off without cutting it!

Edit: I got it. I was able to slide the box end around the 90 on the line and get it on and turn it easily. The entire removal went flawlessly with no stripped bolts or studs!

Well I about have everything done but I am having ALOT of trouble trying to get the oil fitting threaded back into the oil filter housing! I can't even seem to get it started. Any tips?
