Ok i got SAFC 2 coming 650s and a 255 fuel pump next week, im gonna run my 14b for a while and see what it does, at what psi does the 14b start to lose power? Im getting all of this tuned by a shop at a dyno too. thanks.

do you have a afpr as in aeromotive to control that 255 fuel pump? if not you will cause its going to be a pain in the butt to tune that thing.

22psi before you start blowing hot air with the 14b. i pushed 20psi for about a 2weeks before the turbo ate itself :) but every setup is different.

just tryna look out as far at the walbro 255 is concerned though.

my setup:

ported 14b @ 20psi
ported 2g manifold
ported 2g o2 housing
550cc injectors
evo8 fuel pump
ebay fmic
stock 7bolt
3" turboback
3" dejontool intake pipe recirc.
safc with street tune and still was running rich as hell

never got the chance to run at the track due to the compressor wheel melting itself and shooting out my exhaust...

uhm it would be a little different in everyone's car. Try different levels and you let us know. I am about to get ready and tune my car at 18 psi.

Yea I had the same impression that you needed AFPR with the 255 but one of my neighbors has almost the exact set up that im getting but has a 16g and I told him about the FPR and said he didnt need it that it was all in the tune, he got tuned at a Dyno and is pushin about 250 to the wheels with 20psi.

His is auto tho, but yea every car is different. Im gonna try and get it running right without the AFPR and see it it works if not ill pick one up.

I would love to boost to 18, I'm running stock 8 or 9 and I think it pulls pretty hard. Every mbc I get sucks.

What are your mods?

I would not push more than 16 on the stock side mount intercooler, and i would not do 20-25 till you got a fuel pump, apr, injectors, and a safc, maybe some more gauges to monitor your motor.

I personally done 25-26 spiking on mine for about a month and a half but it does depend on the condition of turbo, it died cause the stock intake pipe gasket that goes in between the turbo and intake pipe got sucked in and at 25 psi in a 5th gear pull did kill the turbo.

man, most of you are pushing that 14b to death! I might as well join the crew and bump it to 20 psi.

No. If you run a 255 you need to run an AFPR. Under normal driving conditions, it's not an issue, but under idle it is a problem. This has been covered so many times, it does not matter what you make on the dyno, what you are tuning with, what you or anyone else thinks they are seeing, an AFPR is required to properly run a 255. Sometimes the 190 requires it too.

It's like properly venting the BOV, some people don't do it properly and they'll tell you they can live with it. It's just wrong ;)

Great analogy.

Here's a 14b compressor map:
http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/compressormaps/td05-14b.gif

The 7cm^2 housing will allow better exhaust flow in the higher rpms, making target hp numbers possible/easier to reach, but at the expense of a little extra lag/higher boost threshold. 14b's and 16g's use the same TD05H turbine wheel, so the larger volute 7cm^2 turbine housing is a direct swap.

You got a link for the housing i think i might as well get one since i gotta put a fuel cell in my car now.
The housing will make it a little easier to get your to target not to mention the fact 90% of usu has stripped or broken bolts in it or they are cracked so bad they are getting pre turbo exhaust leaks.

Speak of which does the 7cm^2 have a bigger wastegate flapper?

Inject some methanol/water mix pre-turbo and make the map just a tad larger!!!!!!!!!

We're trying it on a maxed out s16g..hoping to make it flow like a large 16g or EVO III unit. test results will be up by next week... If you've got the means, i say try it!!!!! It's proved it's self on my large turbo, now i want to see it proven on smaller turbos.... When we start the 16g test you should follow my "no FMIC + meth" thread

Already following, all i can find the 7cm^2 for 220 is there anywhere cheaper?

Glad to hear you're watching the thread...the more people that chime in as at least watching makes me at least feel like I'm putting it up there for a reason! As for the prices on turbo parts, I'm way behind the rest of the world. I'm mainly a tuner and don't get to keep up on prices that much, i just program the ECU's and weld.

I've been wondering about mitsu housings a lot here lately. I'm looking for an H1c/hx35 but keep seeing hotsides in the 16-18cm/2 range and want one in the 8-12 cm/s range for spool!!!!!!! So I'm about useless on where to get what on these MHI turbos. I mainly deal with Garrett's or KKK"s

They both have the same flapper, ~30mm(hard to measure while its in the housing)

I'm sure you could find a blown 16g for cheaper than that and snag the housing. People probably have them laying around they just don't know there is a possible market.

turboglenn, Ive been following your other thread, and Im considering a setup similar to what you have. I would like to go pre-turbo with meth, and then a 50/50 after. I have a 14b right now, and wouldnt mind perhaps trying it out on it first.

Throw me a PM with some info on where you think I should purchse my meth kit from. I was considering the kit from Road Race engineering. I wouldnt mind trying to max out my 14b and would love to dyno the results as I go.

I can't seem to be able to have a stedy psi through out every gear in my 14b :( I believe it is because of my 3" TBE.
1st gear I usually peak out around 10, 2nd 12 3rd, 17 creaping to 20psi.
I need a tune so bad, and a boost leak.
