Ok, i need some help guys.

I have a holset hx-35w with a bullseye housing and internal 38mm gate, it was workin well with quick spool and all then the other day i tryed to turn the boost up and it didnt seem to wanna go up. I had it set to 23-24psi and put some race gas in and wanted to try 27-28 but i will not go up past 24psi.. So since i had recently installed a AVC-R i thought mabe that was the problem, so i unhooked it and installed my old MBC which i knew worked but still nuthin over 24psi. At this point all i could do was unhook the wastegate actuator just to see if it would rise, still 24psi max. I also have a 2 nipple internal gate so i ran boost pressure to the front of the diaphram to hold the gate closed incase it was blowing open, STILL only 24psi. Im lost here guys. I have checked for boost leaks and found nuthin, checked shaft play and all was good. Now the only thing i can come up with is mabe the bullseye housing is the wrong one, mabe for a hx-40 and theres to much clearance??? Not to sure at this point... PLs help!!!!!

THANX

It may be hard to tell with the turbo on the car, but on the inside front of the exhaust housing there will either be a T1 or T2 stamped on there. The T2 is for an HX40 and the T1 is for an HX35. Look at my gallery for a better idea of where it is stamped. You shouldn't have a problem seeing it with the turbo on the car.

Was able to see it in the car, has stamped (TM H1). So i dont know how you class that?? H1? or T1????

Ok guys, i have found a bullseye spec sheet with all the housing #'s and it turns out my housing is infact the correct one. So now i am really confused  . ANY IDEAS?

thanx

Your stock 1G crushed BOV is probably leaking at 23+ psi

Well did some more boost leak testing last night and still didnt come up with much. The BOV does start to leak but not till 26+psi and i cant get past 24 so thats not the issue yet.. I am gettin really frusterated with this POS.

I also loaded it down in 4th to see when it hits full boost, and it seems real laggy. Doesnt hit 20psi until around 4500+ or so which is pretty bad considering i have the bullseye housing.

thanx

Internally gated???

Yah, it is internally gated with 38mm and im thinkin mabe thats where my problem lies.
Everyone else runnin this turbo are using external gates so im thinkin of doin this, but dont wanna buy new manny and gate and have the same issue!!! You figure that might be the issue here??

90% positive the huge flapper door is blowing open under boost. If you could pull up the tests Slowboy did last year, on bullseye turbo's you'd find they had the same problem. You can try pre-tensioning the gate, but in my opinion ext. gate is the way to go.

So i guess i should try to hold the internal closed first to see if thats the problem, cause i dont wanna change it all if doesnt fix it ;) .. I will run some stiff springs to it and hold it closed and if i get more boost then i will step up and upgrade to the external. How big of external would i need?? would 38mm be enough?

38mm gate should be fine. However, I found on my setup that I drastically needed to port the turbine housing and wastegate hole or it creeped. My gate has a 40mm piston, but the outlet is like a 38mm. Ebay knockoff, FTW :thumb:

WOW, thanx for the info i owe you one. Went home after work all pissed off at this thing and grabbed some mechanics wire and wired the heck outta the arm to hold it closed.

Went for a drive and holy $#$#. Before i couldnt hit 20psi until 4500-5000 in 4th gear, now i hit 30psi by 5000rpm in SECOND!!!!! wow. Now im pumped on gettin the external gate and seeing what this monster will actually do..thanx again:rocks:
