Have a few questions about this turbo... I am upgrading from the evo 3 and got a real good deal on this so goin to try it for next season. Now i am goin to order the bullseye housing but what do i do with the wastegate actuator?? The stock one is huge and i dont think it will fit..Its real long..Is there a shorter one to buy? And second thing is i've heard its easier to use a non turbo coolant pipe across front of block, but doesnt that have one of the lines that feeds the oil cooler??? is it best to modify the stock turbo pipe or not?? And for anyone that has personal experience with this turbo pls speak up...Let me know how you like it....thanx:thumb:

The stock wastegate will fit even though it looks big. I would recommend external with a turbo of that size though. Even with a 38mm internal wastegate you would still be better off with an external one. I know they bolt onto 2g cars without having to modify the coolant pipe so it should be ok on a 1g. Definatly mock it up and see how it looks up against it. It is recommended to run 44psi on the feed line so run it off the head or get a restrictor if you are going to run it off the oil filter housing.

Bullseye Power has a complete housing and wastegate set up for bolting up an HX-35 to a DSM. Also the Bullseye Power 38mm Internal Wastegate works great and has made 650 HP.

Hey, thanx for the responce.. Now does the bullseye housing come with the actuator too?? It does come with the internal gate but the stock actuator is huge. Now is the oil presure from the head low enuf to not need a restrictor or is it still recomended? The cummings motor i pulled the turbo from had the feed like right from the oil filter housing without a restrictor... What is recomended for this particular turbo?

If it has an internal wastegate it comes with the actuator. As far as feed goes you can use the oil filter housing but will need a restrictor.

I would only recommend using a restrictor if you actually needed it; if the turbo smokes or you have extremely high oil pressure.

Wouldn't too much pressure also cause slow spoolup? Holset says 44psi and oil filter will put out over 100 at times on a good motor. Won't this cause smoking at WOT and slow spoolup?

I'm also putting one of these on my car within the next 2 weeks. I got the SS Bullseye housing, flange and gasket. I plan to run a 40mm HKS wastegate off the o2, dumped to the atmosphere with 3" right off the turbo, kinda like an o2 eliminator downpipe. From previous reading on this site I read it was recommended to run a restrictor if you plan to feed oil off the filter housing. I cobbled up some fittings from the hardware store to match my -4an line and plan to use a nitrous jet in conjunction with the fittings like shown in this thread. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171317 I used a NOS jet that was .085 As, for the main water pipe. I read your going to have to dent the water pipe a good bit to fit the huge compressor housing in. The old boss which feed coolant through your turbo could possibly be in the way. So I went ahead and got a NT water pipe to throw on mine. I don't have the water/oil cooler like you do, but you could always get a NT pipe and put a fitting in it to feed your cooler. :talon:

Almost ready to go on :thumb:

Wow!!!!:rocks: THAT looks good, mine is painted black..Now im think i should polish it like that, looks awsome. Let us know as you install any problems you might have.. I am goin to order the bullseye housing soon!!! Lets see some pics on the car too. So you guys are sayin that aslong as i run oil from the head i dont need the restrictor??? Only need restrictor from the filter housing??? Everyone answers YES you need it from the filter housing but dont say either way about the head.....thanx :thumb:

I attempted polishing it myself, but after 3 hours and hardly any progress I took it to a polishing shop and had it done for $80.

If your gonna run the oil feed off the head I wouldn't use a restrictor. If I didnt already have the line off the filter housing I would feed off the head.

I'll have pics and words of thought when I get it installed...

Installed and almost ready to rock! :thumb: Denting the water pipe is a must and be sure to use brand new turbo to manifold bolts. I broke one off and had to pay $51 to get it drilled out and helicoiled at a machine shop.

Looks good:thumb: ... I would be in the same boat as you, but i went to pick up my bullseye on the weekend and was very dissapointed when they sent a T-3 inlet flange rather then the mitsu one..:toobad: . So now i have to send it back and wait for another one to come.. .. Keep us informed on the next steps...

Interesting. The manual says you can run a bit more oil pressure then 44psi in case anyone else is wondering. This is for information purposes so no one has to ask anymore.

Its been 4 months since I installed this turbo and went to check for boost leaks today and noticed a good amount of oil in my licp and some in the intake pipe. I'm gonna try a smaller NOS Jet(.047)/oil feed restrictor fitting and see if this fix's things. The turbo has very little to almost no shaft play and no damage to the compressor wheel. I'm going crazy at the moment, LOL......

Hey i got mine all on and workin..No troubles yet.. But only been on for afew weeks, i am runnin full presure from the filter housing so far..

How much boost were you runnin to get your time???

My 11.9 run was at 30+ psi with a few small boost leaks and the car was breaking up bad in 3/4 I rolled through in 5th gear. With a clean run and a good launch I don't doubt this turbo will net me an 11.5 run. I've also ran 12.1@117 on 28 psi with a shitty launch. These Holsets are no joke.

Good runs, i was hoping i wouldnt have to run that much boost on such a big turbo to run 11's. I ran 12.2 with the Evo 3 at 23 psi so i was thinkin 25psi or so with the holset to run mid-high 11... we'll see..

Your doing better then I am then, my best on my old s16g was a 12.6@106. I haven't quite dialed this turbo in yet and most all my 60's have been shit this year.
