So I've been thinking a lot about slapping on a HUGE turbo once Im done with my fuel and exhaust mods on my car. The car (with the exception of the head and internals) would be completely ready for just about any turbo (again, the limitations of the stock internals is still relivant, so Im just saying I should have enough fuel to support a gt42r or bigger, and like 20 old women on oxygen support :p ) But I've been thinking, I have a 14b right now, Does anyone else think I should just save up and buy an evoIII 16g? I've been thinking about how much fun it would be to have a turbo that didn't feel like driving a bus until I got to some rpm I never use in daily driving. Obviously I don't drive this car everyday, so its not a question of a streetable turbo or not. Im just saying it would be a lot of fun to have something managable for daily use, if I wanted to.

my question is, do people find that going from a 14b to the evoIII makes a big difference? I know at 15 psi they flow the same amount, so I can't help but think, the difference would be close to nothing. Then I say well a 50 trim would be bigger, then, well If your going with a 50 trim, you might as well step it up to a 60-1 and have some real fun, then all the sudden Im thinking about sbr's bolt on gt35r. Then the cycle starts over again. I can't decide, my brain is just spinning. Im thinking about just buying a dart board and putting four turbos on it, the evo, the 50, the 60-1 and the gt35r. The car will have a full 3 inch exhaust from the o2 housing back, with sbr's cast manifold and a tail 38mm external, with twin fuel pumps (probably 255's) and 8 -an fuel lines leading to a 10 -an fic fuel rail with a 10 -an aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. In my older age I hope to make this car a full drag car or something of the high hp sorts if you can't tell. I think I should just cut the bs and go with the 35r, but then again, how do you decide on a turbo you've never driven with.

hey, im going to be upgrading from a 14b to an evo 3 16g here in 4-6 weeks. if you are still deciding then i can allways stop by orinda since its just down the highway and let you take a drive with it to see how you like it.

on a side note, sorry i never got back to you on that parts car. i had bigger problems to deal with (14b is now an oil pump fot the intake  ) so i wont be able to get it, all my money is going into the new turbo setup.

According to your profile, you are still a ways away from something big. But once you get your fuel system together, I would just skip the small turbos and go with a gt35 or 40r. Take it from someone that has been from a 14b, b16g, t04v-trim, to a 60-1. I wish I had spent all the wasted money on fuel support to begin with and just went to a larger turbo. Trust me when I say, if you want a race car, the 60-1 isnt big enough for you. I still dd mine sometimes and normal driving feels no different than the b16g did. I was expecting slow spool and no low end power but it didnt happen that way. Low end is close to what it was before and 26psi comes around 4000-4200 rpm. Still very driveable and little to no loss at lower rpm.

very comforting, and yes I do plan on getting aem ems next, then finishing off the exhaust (manifold and o2 housing) and then doing all the fuel mods listed above. That should take much more than 4-6 weeks.

That looks like a long time on paper, but its reall not, even 4500 spool TO ME would be considerd a wonderfull daily driver! I shift at 3k in every gear when I'm putting around anyway to keep the cops away. So you would get the best of both worlds, fuel effency on the day-to-day rutine. Hells Bells on the weekend!

I just owned a friend with an evoIII, so Im thinking thats a no brainer. (his car has no tune at all, and about 10-20 feet of intercooler piping. Both stock upper and lower intercooler pipes are still there, and there is a pipe going from the stock upper intercooler side to the passenger side, thats all good and well, but the licp goes to the stock location, makes a 180 degree turn, then goes across the back of the intercooler, all the way to the other side, then makes another 180 to the intercooler. It seriously is about 10 feet of 2.5 inch piping in all. Spool time=REALLY SLOW) Im thinking a 50 trim would be the smallest thing I could imagine putting on this next. Probably a 60-1 or bigger realistically.
