Hi guys, my 20g turbo blew and according to what I found out the major turbo companys want about 600 to 700 for rebuild on a mitsubishi turbo. I guess I need help in chosing a new turbo step above the 20g or maybe if anybody knows a company that could rebuild a 20g turbo for a resonable amount of money. My setup is hks cams, 660 injectors, fmic, sheet metal intake manifold, gm maft, fuel pump, and external wastegate setup with ported 2g exhaust manifold. If I have to spend that kind of money for a rebuild I spend another couple of hundred and buy a new better turbo. I'm open to any sugestions, Thanks Hugo.

I believe FP charges $345, for a basic rebuild. Then there are always the option of getting other goodies while it is getting rebuilt.

you can get a rebuild for much cheaper than that. read the tech article slowboy did on internally gated turbos if you need some more help deciding.

50-trims are capable of well over 400 hp. A 60-trim is capable of 450+ hp. So I'd say one of those.

I agree that a 50trim is ideal for this goal. Great on pump gas and very good spool. But the 20g has been proven to do it and he can get it rebuilt for far cheaper than he can get another turbo and change oil lines.

I say go to FP for your rebuild. You can't go wrong with them and it is at the most only half of the price of a 50 trim setup.

But the 50 trim is a great turbo for that horrsepower level:thumb:

If I were you, I would choose to go with the rebuild from FP, but if you don't go with the FP rebuild, and opt to get a new turbo. I would grab a 50 trim or even a 60 trim a_scobel said; which both will meet you goal.

Hopes this helps, Stay boostin

i have had an rs60t, a to4e 57 trim.. and now im sticking with the 20g. For my goal (400hp) its the best turbo to use with the least amount of boost. the 57 trim wasnt even efficient until around 25+ lbs of boost. And i wanted to produce a good amount of power, with a smaller amountof boost. around 20-25(max)

slowboy racing sells ball bearing 50-60 trim turbos, bolton too, look into that.

450 on a mustang dyno is where it's at. if you want real power then go with a larger turbo, say gt30r. but thats even pushing it to put out 450 on a mustang, a 35r would be perfect. plus plan on getting internals if you want to push that kinda power. plus spend a little money on getting the head built. it will definately help with that smim that you have.
