well heres the deal i am in the process of build me a 1g motor for my 2g eclipse.

i have the block. and am about to put it in the machine shop to get hot tanked and tested.
dont know if i wanna shop around on ebay for a head or go to slow boy and purchase one there. i want the pride of doing it myself however i also want it asap. but anyhow i am sort of pulled in multiple directions cause well this is my first major over haul on my car and i want it done right and i want it to be the fastest eclipse in town. which may or may not be too difficult. i got lucky and practically stole a brand new t3/t4 turbo from a buddy of mine. ( i didnt really steal it he got it off ebay and they double shipped it to him so i bought the other one for $200) i also got a set of aem cam gears thrown in for free when i bought my block.

so thats what i got to work with, which i dont think is too bad. but i dont really know where to go from here. i was thinking about putting a stroker kit in to make it a 2.4 or my same friend was telling me something about the crank from a galant or something that would fit in my 4g63 to make it a 2.3 he liked to call it POOR boy racing. LOL hes cheap like that but he's been proven many times over. but anyhow what does everyone out here think. i just want suggestions that can be backed up with results. i would like to get somewhere around 350-400 to the ground, maybe the elusive 500 if its finacially possible.

Well you have come to the right place, but you have done the wrong thing. Search for stroker kits and see what they do then decide if you want one. If not, you are going to need internals for your engine to get 500.

Thought stock internals did well up to 400 then from there the heat starts to become a problem and forged internals weren't necessearly needed but gave a much better piece of mind.

2.4 liter isnt a stroker.. its a 2.4 liter. 2.3 liter is a stroker because its a 2 liter block with 2.4 crank.

for a street motor.. i think 2.0s are just fine and as for a head.. a stock one youd probably be happy with. alot of places dont actually port a head right.. they just make the ports bigger which really isnt what you want. you want it to flow better. there is a science to it.

JAM's heads i think are really nice. i got mine from there and if you have the extra money its worth it.. or have a friend with a flowbench to play around with....

but in all reality... whats the fastest DSM you have ever been in ? 500hp is actually alot of street power... my DD im building is just an evo3 16g wiseco 9:1 40 over. stock head stock rods just a fresh build.
and that is probably a mid 12 second car easily.. and not even 400hp.

I am in the process right now of building a 2.3l stroker, from what I have heard its great for spooling a larger turbo and if youre looking to get 500 it just might be the way to go.... But as Jason84 said for a street car a 2.0l will get you close to what you want without diving deep into your pockets...

2.0 liter will be fine for 400WHP. Most people don't need anything more than that. As for internals holding up, around 600WHP is perfectly fine if you at least have upgraded camshafts + MLHG. The head should be fine too, unless you want to raise your redline.
