would a 05 imprezda sti turbo work on my 90 tsi and if i put one on would i need an intercooler upgrade

It could work if you made a custom exhaust manifold to allow the turbo to bolt up as well as a custom downpipe. Its not worth the money it will cost to fit it up.

Not necessarily, the VF39 is pretty capable.
