I finally finished my intake pipe and cold air intake plumbing done. This is all done on a small 16g. Very soon I'll be upgrading, so don't worry about that.

I used a 4" Aluminum 90 degree bend and some straight section to make it up. The divider is made from 1/8" ABS plastic. Under the filter is a 3" tube that brings in cold air from the airdam. I have flex hose attaching the tube to the airdam.

I figured out a trick way to attach my K&N filter. I couldn't find a 4" inlet filter that would fit how I wanted it to, so I bought a 3.5" inlet filter and was planning on making an adapter from 4" to 3.5". When I got it, I realized that the filter would slip inside the 4" tube very snugly. Since the filter is in a position where it can't back out, and its so tight, it will work out great. It gives it a really clean look w/o any clamps.

I polished the 4" pipe, but I kept scratching it and putting prints on it so I decided to put a brushed finish on it with a scotch brite pad.

The plastic divider has about a 1/8" gap all around to prevent rubbing through paint.

Here are the finished pics.

Start selling them, Like said above. I'd be sure to buy one if they were cheaper then the intake pipes that vendors are selling. I'm sure you can make a very decent amount of money. I know Stapl3 sells his also, they look very good.

Thats pretty nice man, think you could fab one for other UICP? I'd probally buy one if the price was right!

Yes, its a TIG weld. I and thinking about selling them. Or maybe just the ABS plastic piece. I'm still comtmeplating. IF I could make a jig to cut the pieces, then it would make my life easier, and making them quicker. I'll definately consider. I'm also considering making intake manifolds like this and selling to the DSM and EVO crowd. I made it for a drag car I'm still in the process of building. Its a 80 pinto, wiht a 2.3T (really a 2.7 with a T70, but what the hell).

Here is a pic. Would you guys pay $500-$600 for a setup like this:

Its obviously not finished in those pics, but you get the point. I'll have to take some new pics with it on the car and all finished up.

^ I was thinking of doing that, but can't find the right weather stripping yet.

Hey Kevin, I have a question for you about that pinto with the 2.3 in it. One of my projects right now is putting a t3/t4 in a 88 turbo t-bird. What did you need to do to get that running right? Are you running the stock computer or something completely diffrent. This is a bit of a budget project and we are looking for a way to do this relatively cheaply and I'm just curious to see what you did.

Also, what kinda numbers are you running with that 2.7 stroker? We are looking at taking one of our spare 2.3's and stroking it to 2.5, I have heard of issues with the 2.7's and wrist pin/ring/oiling problems on street driven cars so we where going to stick with the 2.5. Has that caused you many problems or does that car never see street duty?

Thanks,
Pat

Our goal for the pinto is 800 hp to the wheels and 8's. So NO, we're not on stock computer. Autronic SM2......... No need to worry about oiling problems, we did it right. We have a custom crank, rods, pistons and the ever illusive tall deck block. Its done right. We're runnign a GT42R turbo. ARCA head, huge .620 lift cam..........

Before I bought my DSM I had a Ford Ranger that I swapped a 2.3T into from a 88 Turbocoupe. I also had a 46 trim T3/T04E on. I put down 300 hp and 350 ft-lbs with stock cam. Its a bolt on affair. I used stock injectors and computer, just upped the fuel pressure a lot. Running 57 psi of base pressure. Ran pretty damn good, let me know if you have any questions.
