Yesterday driving to work, my car let off this really loud "pop". After that, my car would barely run. I checked underneath the car this morning and the lower intercooler pipe was barely on the intercooler. Reclamped it down, started the engine again. Car was smooth. Go to pull out of my driveway, take off and at about 2k rpms "whoosh" I loose all my boost pressure. Car runs like crap again. Also, I'm kicking out a lot of black smoke, and my a/f gauge shows I'm really rich. It's almost like something is blocking the flow of air, or maybe the stock bypass valve just went out. Anybody have this happen to them?
 
No, but make sure your intercooler pipe didn't blow off again. If it did, you should be running very rich and blowing black/gray smoke. Get a new clamp or do whath you have to so that it doesn't blow off again.

Boost leak test. The reason you're running rich is because you're loosing metered air that the ecu had already accounted for when deciding how much fuel to inject.
 
Just got back from the local auto mechanic. It's going to the dealership tomorrow. What I got out of it was the bearings in my turbo have failed, forcing the oil back into my lower engine. The only way my car would run smooth is if we opened the wastegate, which was a project in itself. The a/f guage is at max rich when wastegate is closed, max lean when wastegate is forced open. The mech also thinks that exhaust is ending up in my intake, which may have damaged something inside the engine. On top of that oil was ending up in my intake, so that may have lead to the turbo's demise. Not only that but the cat was pretty clogged, which added to the backpressure on the turbo. My O2 sensor was pratically welded on from how hot the exhaust pipes got. My thought process right now is buying a good 14b turbo with the new install kit. (I plan on eventually buying a big 16G, so the new install kit will come in handy.) I'll pick up a magnaflow cat. I also picked up a catch can, which will solve some of the blockback problem. Eventually I'll be replacing all the intercooler pipes, but for now I'll be cleaning everything from the turbo to the intake manifold. I guess everything's relate until I find out more from the dealership.
