 Im a newbie so be easy on me. I have a 97 GST with the 16G and I have my boost set at 20psi. I was driving my car the other day and I let it reach full boost. When I looked up in my rearview i saw thick blueish white smoke. I thought my turbo might of been blown so I gave it a little gas but it still spools the same. I pulled the car on ramps and removed the intercooler hose from the turbo and it has oil residue around it. When it first started smoking it only did it when I got down on the car but now it does it at idle. What could be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :dsm:

Change your oil feed line from the stock location to the side of the head like a 1g. The 16g doesnt like as much oil pressure on the feed as the t-25.

EDIT: t-28 or 16g? your profile says t-28 which would be fed the same as the t-25.

Ive know a few people that run a 16g or 14b on 2g's and had oil problems. Ive also had friends that installed the oil feed from the oil filter housing on 1g's and had oil problems.

Just look at Buschur's 2g install kit and you see it includes the 1g oil feed line from the head, not the oil filter housing like some of the other kits on the market. Evidently, there is a reason behind it. I trust their judgement over a lot of the other vendors I see. Dave has been working with DSM's for quite some time now.

Its not going to stop smoking once it starts. You more than likely have a bad turbo at this point and simply changing the oil feed line will not fix it.

Install a new turbo with a feed from the head.

There can be a few reasons you get smoking out the back . I had a problem with my 50 trim AGP 49 and both times it was a blockage in pcv breather setup. I was running straight thru pcv into catch can and back to head but had additonal fram filter in the loop and it clogged and lots of blue smoke blew threw the turbo. And second time had blockage in the same loop in hose. Anyway both times it smoked terrible and thought blew turbo or engine but it all went away quite quickly when fixed the problem. Blocked pcv valve could cause same thing.
As for turbo being ruined by this well maybe 14 bs or 16gs but it didn't hurt my garette at all its worked fine ever since.
