I had to move to South Dakota for the summer and I'm living in a small town of about 500 people. Problem is - the nearest gas station with 91 octane gas is 75 miles away OMG they have 89 here, but the gas here is not very good. I was just putting 89 in, with 2 bottles of octane boost. A friend told me to use Zylene(a paint thinner) to boost it up about 5 points - I'm not sure about that, anyone else tried it?

Anyways, I was wondering if I could just turn boost 'off' by putting on my MBC and closing it all the way, if that's even possible. Would I be able to do that? Would my car run just like a n/t, or would it run like crap?

Any suggestions would be helpful, and just parking the car is out of the question, I have 3 jobs here and I'm always running back and forth to one of them.

with your mods your car will run fine on 89. Your ecu will learn the limits of the gas just dont go too overboard with the mods; or you will get massive knock and timing pulled. :dsm:

Like they said before the car should run fine on 89 as far as boost is kept near stock. If you are wanting to boost the octane rating the stuff you want to put in your gas is called "toluene".

yeah, I was checking it out on the forums, I realized that toulene is better than xylene. Problem with that is, I'm about 100 miles away from anywhere that has it. Is there anyway to have a gas truck deliver it in a 55 gallon drum?

Oh, and my peak boost is about 13, don't know for sure what stock is.

Water injection.

Don't try paint thinners and spot removers.

If you try to run without boost, you will probably hurt yourself when you open the door and get out to push, because at 30 miles an hour it still feels like the car's stopped.
