Alright... so I just got done installing a 14B into my 2G. Started up with no problem. Checked, double-checked, and triple-checked to make sure all wires/bolts/whatnot were hooked up were they were supposed to be. Took it for a test drive with my Hallman turned all the way down, gunned it in second and my boost gauge pegged (I have an Autometer 30-0-20, it was cheap) past 20 PSI. The only thing I did different as far as boost control between my T25 and 14B is that with the T25 I had the wires from the MBC going to the WGA and compressor housing. It worked fine, but from what I learned after I hooked it up it's better to run it to the line that comes off the back of the BOV since it's an accurate reading of boost in the intake manifold. So I did that with the 14B. I keep re-checking the lines and according to online and printed instructions, I got it right. So the only thing I can think of is maybe the WGA is broke. By the way, the turbo and O2 housing are ported. That should help with boost creep/spiking, but could it be affecting control too? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, peace. :dsm:

stock exhaust? if it's still stock then i'd bet it IS the wastegate actuator..

easiest way to tell is to unhook the WGA from the flapper arm and put some pressure in there [bike pump, whatever] and see if the WGA is functioning properly. It should open and close with applied pressure.

if you have a 2.5" or 3" turboback, then it's most likely boost creep. port the turbine housing and o2 housing more in this case. focus on opening up the wastegate HOLE. be careful not to port too much though.

goodluck

Are you having all out boost (boost shot straight up) or boost creep (hitting the initial setting then creeps up as rpm increases)?

If it's all out boost, bypass the mbc by connecting the pressure source directly to the actuator. If you get a steady 10-12psi, the problem is the mbc and hoses around it. If problem persists, the actuator/wastegate is either defective or stuck closed.

Thanks... I ported the turbine housing and O2 housing. I made the path to the wastegate as un-90 degree as I could and got rid of the steps also. Hopefully my MBC is good... it was just working last week with my T25. I'm thinking it is the WGA... I didn't have one on the turbo when I got it. It was a last minute find that I got from one of my boys. I'll try the bypass today. If it's stuck closed, is there any way to fix it or should I just get another one? Oh yeah, it's all out boost. The controller is set as low as it can go. The boost doesn't stop. It just goes until the needle can't go no more. :dsm:

I got an Apex'i N1 DP/catback. I'll give that a shot also. Thanks. :dsm:

Good, sounds like you did some research on the subject of boost creep before you started the project.

Get another one.

Sounds good. I'll see what's wrong tonight and figure out where to go from there. Hopefully it's the actuator. Thanks for the help. :dsm:

Check and see if you put the boost controllero n there backwards..thatll do it
Unless I'm retarded, I got it in there right... :D . Yeah, I checked that too. :dsm:

OK, so I tested it out... seems to be the WGA. Bypassed the MBC and my boost gauge still shot up to 18-19 pounds. So now I have to find a 14B WGA. Loads of fun. :dsm:
