okay tomorrow i will be helping a buddy of mine out with his 14b swap in a 2g. i have done many turbo swaps before all on 1st gens tho. im confused on the oil lines? i see on the threads from plymouthlaser.com and vfaq that you "need" a oil line directly from the oil filter but i seen many people just use 1g oil lines? we are planing on using the parts needed off my 1g parts car and im just wondering what to do about this oil line that comes from the oil filter housing.

thanks tuners :thumb:

It is recomended that you take the oil from the filter housing. If you're gonna use the 1g oil feed line than you would have to feed from the head. you could just take the stock 2g oil line out and plug the filter housing. then connect the 1g oil line to the head.

It has an oil line that feeds from the oil filter housing. You should get a braided stainless steel line with a banjo fitting and bolt for the 14B, don't forget the crush washers. The hard line that feeds the T25 has a pipe fitting that goes into the turbo, and can't be used for the 14B.

Right, either go stainless steel braided from the filter ($50), or use the stock 1g line from the head and block off the oil filter housing that use to be used (free, maybe $2 in misc. pieces). The oil from the head may be a little bit less quality, but you're only feeding a 14b so it shouldn't matter that much. Personal preferance on how much money you'd like to spend.

personally if it was my 2g i would get the steel braided line, but its not and the owner likes to half ass shit because hes cheap. so we will be running the line from the head. what do i do with the oil line running to the t25? how do i block it off? sorry for the dumb questions just want to be fully aware what im getting my hands into

thanks
david

its not half-assing it...oil from the head was good enough for the 1gs. i got a stock 1g feed line for free and got the washers etc. for cheap as well. the plug for the housing was a 3/8" NPT plug and it was extremely easy to put on. not like the SS line is a pain or anything, but i don't see anything wrong with the head feed. my 14b is fine w/it.

okay so i just need that 3/8 ntp plug and i should be good to go on the parts part of this 14b on a 2g project? thanks for all the help i feel very confident with this turbo swap dis weekend

Well, if you're gunna use the 1g stock oil feed line for the 14b, your gunna need that 3/8 npt fitting to block off the 2g oil filter housing feed line for the t-25........

I would recommend that you wrap that npt fitting with some teflon tape........not much, just 2-3 wraps just to be on the safe side of things.....

You dont want some oil to leak out all of a sudden when your out in the middle of nowhere with 5 girls in your car, that would suck big time.

Oem turbo i use the head the way it came from the factory, i also have used the ofh without any problems, so its gonna be up to you which one you want to use.
