I just installed my boost gauge and it's reading 13 psi. All I have right now is a 3" exhaust(starting like 6" after the O2 housing) and a intake. I always though stock eclipses run around 9 psi. Is it normal to have 13 psi? It stays at 13 the whole time and never creeps higher.

Another question, I'm installing my Hallman MBC tonight and I was wondering what the highest boost I should go is. I'm still on stock fuel and T25 so I'm thinking nothing more than 15 max. Am I correct? :confused:

Ya I was VERY surprised too when I found out that our cars run stock @ 12-13 PSI.... I always though our cars run @ 8-9 PSI.... makes me wonder...
 
Aha, that makes sense. I was turning up the boost with my mbc and I couldn't get past 15. I'm guessing that because my BOV is leaking so bad right? I mean, I had the knob turned all the way down(I backed it off later) and it still wouldn't go up.
 
The wastegate actuator is set to 8-9PSI. The BCS (boost control solenoid) bleeds some of the wastegate signal off, however, to raise boost to 10-12 PSI, as long as you're not knocking.
 
The wastegate on a 1g is set at about 8psi and on a 2g I think that it is 11-12 psi.
 
Ok, but how come I can't adjust my boost at all? I think I have my MBC hooked up right. I routed the house from the boost source(turbo housing) to the specified end and then routed the hose from the wastegate to the other part of the MBC. But the boost stays at 13 psi. I can't change it at all whether I unscrew the knob until it almost falls off or screw it all the way in. :confused:
 
you cant get any more than 13psi cause youre still on the stock bov, which leaks past 13psi.

upgrade to a better bov and you will be able to turn the boost up.

and its a t25, you can do 20psi without any supporting mods. itll be blowing hot air anything past 17, but itll still be pretty quick, enough to take down mildly modded type-r's and such. i know from experience. i ran 20psi on the t25 from about august 04 to jan 05(then went evo16g and support), no problems.
 
Yeah, I have a 1G BOV in the mail as we speak. Wow, I didn't know I could turn the boost that high. I'll be replacing my T25 with a 14b soon also so I might just try a few runs set at 20 psi. But I'm still thinking that I'll keep her at about 16.

Also, will my gas mileage go down the more I turn the boost up?
