My car was getting a Rebuilt shortblock (new pistons, rods, rings, new crank, water pump, oil pump, removed balance shafts & new Mitsu tranny from the dealer. Well the car was finally ready for a test drive today. As soon as the turbo kicked in, the car went nowhere, almost like a huge boost leak. It even wanted to stall out and it did in a few occasions. Drove the car back to the mechanic shop because the mechanic was with me during this whole time. We popped the hood and for 6 hours we tried to find out what was the issue. Tried boost leaks tests, checking all the hoses to make sure there tight, fuel pressure testing, OBD II testing, etc. But still no luck, u could hear the bov (turboxs type H34) & it was pretty loud but the car would go nowhere. Everything seemed to be fine. The CEL came on and we got knock sensor error and EGR Lower unit error. The mechanic fixed the knock sensor issue, and adjusted the EGR Valve and still no luck. Then he did fuel pressure testing, and it seemed that the fuel was not getting back in its place the way it should. The fuel pressure seemed kinda funny, although not too bad. Then, i heard a whining kinda noise coming from under the car, and it turned out the fuel pump was making that noise. I dunno whats going on, we tried everything. The vaccum was leaking but since my boost gauge is only 0-35 psi, there was no way to tell what the vaccum reading was. I cant seem to figure out what the hell is going on. The turbo is good, the motor is good, i just dunno what else to look for. We checked everything, spark plugs, injectors, timing, hoses, intake, etc.

Any suggestions what else to look for? My car shouldnt be having any more issues, everything looked like it was fine and tight, i just dunno what else to look for because 6 hours and no luck!

how much boost are you running? Do you have a stock intake?
when you take the intake off and you dont put the rubber sleeve around the compressor inlet first, before sliding the intake on the inlet it will cause the sleeve to bind up and block airflow to the turbo, and it wouldnt build boost at all,, or faintly. I would pull off the intake and check it out.

I have never turned the boost up or down, i never even used the boost controller i have sitting in my room. I have the stock intake. Im kinda confused as to what u mean when u say "before sliding the intake on the inlet it will cause the sleeve to bind up and block airflow to the turbo"? If you referring to the intake hose that is clamped around the inlet of the turbo, than i havnt took that off yet. I have just took off the filter part where the MAF plugs into. I tried a different Filter but the car acted the same. This is driving me nuts, i mean ive dealt with a huge boost leak before (when i was on the Stock BOV) and atleast the car was still driveable as long as u gave it less than 45-55% throttle, but this time, even if u give it like 25% gas, it will act like it has a huge boost leak and its like running into a brick wall, it just wont go.

I am pretty new to this turbo thing myself and im no mechanic but maybe this... Maybe your car is doing that because its not getting enough fuel? you mentioned your fuel pump making noises... check your fuel lines and maybe replace the pump with a bigger one since your going to want that sooner or later anyway. One time my car wasnt getting enough fuel and it did the same thing youre talking about..again... im new to this whole thing too but maybe it can be at least something to try  anyway, i hope it gets better for you, i know how it feels to have problem after problem

Fuel pressure was kinda funny? Be specific. What was funny about it besides the noise you heard from under the car? If a mechanic did all of this work in a shop you'd think he/she could figure this out for you. Is there any reason you're looking for ideas as to what the problem might be other then peace of mind? If you aren't mechanicly inclined and you take DSMTuners advice and pass it on it's going to cost you more (if you're wrong)
and it's likely to piss off your mechanic.

Case in point, a kid came into the shop with a Neon, he said he needed a new clutch..
so my buddy dropped the tranny to replace the clutch, after doing this he realized the clutch line was leaking and needed to be replaced. Because the tranny was already out and the kid said he needed a new clutch (which was still in perfect condition) the mechanic charged him for the $30 part AND a new clutch, hell, the tranny was already out right?
Got to make money some how. So... if you're new, try to stick with very simple diagnosis/advice if your mechanic is scratching his head, otherwise it might cost you an arm and a leg.

I'm not trying to flame but it would seem the mechanics responsibility to resolve this issue.
Why was everything else replaced? You had problems then, replaced a ton of shwag and now it still has issues?

Don't settle for anything acting "funny" make sure everything checks out before
eliminating it as possible cause for the issue at hand.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Sounds like a similar problem that I am expierencing, after installing a 14b on my car.

Problem Resolved. Last night i had a feeling that the spark plug wires might be in the wrong order in the ignition coil so i searched Vfaq and found the correct order which i believe was 4123. It turned out that the wires were in the order 3421 instead on the coil or something like that. So anyway, we changed the order and the car still wouldnt go anywhere as soon as u gave it 20% throttle. This made me believe that one of the spark plugs might be shot because of the missfire and incorrect order. And indeed after replacing the spark plug, the car pulled like a raped Ape. Its boosting fine and everything is well..although the car when started drops idle to about 500-600 and then goes up instanstly..and stays there..that never happened before but ill figure it out, ill probably end up changing the spark plug wires and do a intercooler Boost Leak test again.. Finally after 6 long months, my car is running good.
