i have an scm61 internally gated....and i have an 02 dump wondering if the w/g should be open at idle....making this the reason y its making the dump tube noise....its not that loud but wondeting if this should happen...lemme know

If your turbo doesnt have a divider wall between the wastegate and the wheel, yes its going to sound like that all the time. But if there is a wall between the 2 then u should only here it when u r at or near full boost.

Exactly what he said
IF you do have the divider and you hear it at idle then you need to shorten the wategate arm

Basically whats happening is you dont have enough tension on your wastegate arm and the pressure inside your turbine housing is pushing that flapper open just enough that air is bypassing it and running out your dump tube. Get more tension on that arm and your problem will be solved.

I've noticed a lot of 14b's have this problem with the wastegate being slightly open. You just have to either shim your actuator to where the WG arm is just a tad bit farther fromt he actuator arm and you will put enough preload on the WG arm to kept it closed. Also sometimes the actuator mount gets bent in some and does the same thing. I just bend it back a little bit until the actuator rod is close to the WG arm.

thanks for the reply guys....i totally forgot to mention this....my divider is gone for better boost control....thats my problem..well not problem...but that answers my question...thanks again... post closed LOL
