gauges with dsm link

im gonna get dsm link for my fwd, but i dont have any gauges right now other than boost. i want to know which ones i will need, and which ones ill be ok without having since dsm link will monitor some of the numbers. id like to keep it low key with the two gauge dash bezel, and if i need to, put some other gauges in the glove box or something. any advice is welcome. thanks.

With DSMLINk the only real Guage you'll need is Boost. EGT is kind of an early warning. (but DSMLINK will show you somethings wrong. As long as you notice the Check engine light come on)

ie: DSMLINK triggers the Check engine light anytime you get knock over 5 degrees (or to what ever degree you set it to)


It's kind of over kill to get the dsmlink right off on a stock car. But to be honest I wish I'd gotten it back when I first started.

EGT Gauge - A little insurance, no guaranteees.

Oil Pres. Gauge - See above.

first off, thanks for the replies. it will be mostly stock, but i am doing a swap to a 1G 6-bolt vr4 motor. i also want to use the mas from my 2g, along with the stock fmic that came with the engine, 14b, and an intake. i also got an adjustable fpr and some 660s. i just thought that instead of trying to go route of an afc, this would be a better choice in the long run. an exhaust and some other things are in the near future (hopefully). do you think that i will need a fuel pressure gauge as well? thanks.
