450+ HP, what would you use for optimum peformance. If I went standalone it would be Haltech e6k. Keep in mind it's a daily driver but I have the time to tune and have a second car. Please only give your opinion if you have or know people with Standalone Fuel management. Thanks guys.
 
If you want to run a haltech E6k on a street car you NEED to also get the J&S safegaurd. Haltech has no knock sensor so it doesn't retard timing when you get knock. If you're getting a stand alone just get the AEM.
For a new dsmer such as yourself I always recomend a piggy back. It's much harder to cause damage because you are not adjusting ignition timing.
 
That's true. I was looking into it to get the most out of the turbo I get. If I were running somthing small like a 16g I wouldn't worry as much about it but If I get large wheel like a 60-1 then I would want to get the best possible fuel/ignition maping. :)
 
Aren't the plugs the same for a TEL or GVR4? I've never worked on a GVR4. Judging by how long they took getting the 2G plug and play out (compared to when they said it would be out) I'd say sometime in November for the TEL.
 
Nick I know the ecu is slightly different on the VR4. I was just under the impression that they were a little different. I have also heard of a late September release date for the AEM.

I'm pretty much set on getting the Haltech for my project car. I'm just dragging my feet because its so much money. I'm not incredibly concerned about not having a knock sensor. The hardest part is going to be getting the initial tuning on pump gas. But I have a pretty nice base map from a similar car and I have access to a wideband 02.
