Measure knock with SAFCII on 2g using 1g knock sensor

I know you can't use the knock function on the SAFCII on a 2G car. But if you used a knock sensor from a 1G or any other car maybe and place it next to the other 2g sensor. That way the ECU will get the signal it's used to and you can read knock on the SAFCII.
Has anyone tried it or know if it works/doesn't work?

It probably would work. But what would that show you? They have 2 different levels of sensitivity. So when the stock ECU is seeing all sorts of knock from the stock sensor, this other sensor may not see anything. Or vice versa. While it may show you if you are getting knock, it won't show you how much retard the ECU is giving you due to knock, so its not exactly the best way to get the info you need.

You have a 95, you should have an EPROM ECU. The answer for reading knock is already there for you.

I have access to a 95 ECU out of a 95 GST. If I swap it out with my 97 ECU, will I be able to read knock? Also, is it a direct replacement?

Thats funny, I can read knock out of my 95 ECU.

PS it makes it much easier if you use DSMLink, otherwise you have to reverse engineer the code in the ECU. Either way will work though
