I've been messing with my advanced timing and have managed to get a little more toque at 17 degree's btdc.I wanted to see what people had theirs set at and what kind of effect you got.

"What is your timing" is a pretty broad question.

Are you talking about at WOT under boost, or at idle?

At idle, the timing HAS to be set with a timing light, with the timing adjustment connector grounded out and the logger unplugged. Any other way will not work properly.

First of all, that is for the Toyota 3SGTE motor, not a DSM, so I do not know how it is helping you at all.

This is the proper procedure:

There is almost no way you have yours set to 17 degrees BTDC. The marks on the lower timing belt cover only go to 10* BTDC, so you would have to be WAY past the lower mark to have 17*.

Set it to 5* for pump gas and general use, and feel free to advance it 1-5* if you are using race gas.

I'm going by the adjustment knob on the timing light.fully advanced is 25 degrees btdc the recommended factory setting is 10 degrees btdc I have mine advanced to 17 degreesbtdc
