7-13 counts of knock and timing still advances

Now I seem to have tuned the knock out, but still it will come back depending on conditions, but I noticed that if I get knock, say 7-10 or so counts my timing still advances or at the very least holds. Now as far as I know timing should be retard once you hit 7 counts, whats the deal with this? I'm not worrying about anything,just curious.

As well while on the topic is it bad to have too much timing advance, I know too much is bad, but say that I'm getting as much as 25-26 timing advance, averages 22 tho as well as no more than 6-7 counts of knock, usually 0 knock.

You cannot really have too much advance, but beyond a certain point (~24 degrees) you will not such as high gains for increased advance.

well a low inj DC will make the ecu advance timing more then it should, thats what people with big injectors have problems with, as well as only being able to go 50% on the afc.

you only have 550's though i wouldnt think it would be a problem, on my 660's ive had it go as high as 29 degrees under WOT and even with like 20 counts of knock i was at 20 degrees, i read into it cuz i didnt understand why it was doing that. mine seems to be normal tho, im running richer then i was when i did that logging
 
big injector will cuase timing to advance or be highe than smaller injectors.

Using the biggest injectors you can get away with helps.

Fuel goes in at a higher rate. Even if you are using the same amount of fuel it goes in in less time. So more fuel goes in when intake flow is highest and it has more time to atomize and get dispersed around the combustion chamber which is why it can tolerate more timing at the same AFR.

You want as much advance as possible but there is a point of diminishing returns where you don't make any more power if you advance it more. This is also dependant on the initial timing.

Usually its between 30 and 40 BTDC. Total timing. So about 24-20 degrees of advance thru the ECU is pretty much the max range where going past it wont get you anything even if it doesn't knock.
