Can I increase boost without tuning?

I have JE forged 9:1 pistons, wahlbro 255 fuel pump, external wastegate and stock turbo/intercooler/injectors (turbo, 2g manifold and O2 housing are ported). I'm only running 10 psi right now. I have the correction settings zeroed out on the safc right now because I don't have a datalogger yet and don't want to tune without one. Would it be safe to increase the boost as it is?

What is stock boost on 1g's? 11.5? I'd say you'd be safe with 12psi, probably alittle more. Do you have an EGT gauge?

Yep, I have an EGT gauge.

I actually went ahead and turned it up to 12psi just a little while ago. In a 2nd & 3rd gear run, I was right at 1600 degrees at the top of third. I richened up the top end some, +5% 4k - 7k rpms. Think that's enough to bring down my EGT's? I haven't run it again yet.

Get a logger ASAP, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it :thumb:. The logger will also help you out tuning your Lo settings.

Like he said. EGTS can get high from being too rich or too lean but is mostly an indication of knock. The logger will let you see knock and timing advance which is what you really need to get it perfect.
