My AFR is displaying the wrong RPM on the unit, when the car is idling it displays somewhere around 300 rpm, at 2000 it shows 700 etc.
I'm thinking the AFR is set at the wrong # of cylinders

I read the instructions, which said a number representing the # of cylinders would show up when the unit turns on, but no # shows up.

The unit was already installed when I got the car, so I don't know if the setting is chosen during installation, or if you can change it whenever.

does anyone know how to change this setting?? Thanks

There are 4 dip switches on the back of the unit. Turn off your engine, then turn off dip swithch #4. After you turn it off, switch on to IGN (not start yet), then the number will be on you display (the first number you see is numbers of cylinders).

At this point you can set the unit to re-learning your setup (according to the manual).

I turned switch 4 off, turned on IGN, and set it to 4 when EIDS was flashing.
I turned switch 4 off and started the car and now it reads 500rpm at 1000??
Did I miss something, or am I supposed to leave switch 4 in the off position to save the setting???

Anyone else know how to fix the setting, or have any suggestions? Between trying to tune, and this problem I'm ready to sell the AFR it and buy an AFC.

Turn switch 4 off, turn on IGN, set to 4 when EIDS blinking (that you did was correct) and then start engine, wait until it warm up to optimum temp then turn switch 4 on.

If you still have problem, you should check the wiring of RPM signal according to the HKS manual. Good luck.

I followed those instructions and it displayed the correct RPM, but only when it is set at 2 cylinders??....When it is set at 4 it does not display the correct RPM so I guess whoever installed it messed up when connecting the RPM signal wire.

So do I need to reconnect the RPM signal wire, or can I tune as long as the RPM's are displayed correctly??
I can't see how the # of cylinders would affect tuning, so far the idle control works and I am able to set my 11 points and adjust them.

So does anybody know if it's safe to tune when it's set at 2 cylinders, as long as the RPM is correct??
