GM MAF output? (for translator)

The output from the sensor is a voltage (not sure what orientation), and that voltage is "translated" to a Hz output for the ECU. Hence the name of the product ;)
 
The GM mafs used output a frequency. They have to be translated to match the frequency output of the stock DSM setup, thats what the translator is for. Maybe you are thinking of the afcmasc, which used a Ford sensor that is voltage based?

I could've sworn the GM mafs were voltage output as well. In fact as I understood it, the only reason a Karmen meter outputs a pulsed signal is because it is actually counting something, which a hotwire meter is not. It just seems odd that they would convert from a voltage to a pulsed signal, unless noise was an issue. But I certainly wont claim to be an expert in this area ;)
 
Some of them are voltage output.Nearly every new MAF outputs pulses because they are easily counted by digital devices without an analog to digital converter.I'm trying to make my own translator with a voltage out MAF for 3 reasons.1-they respond faster 2-the transfer functions are more similar with karman type sensors 3- I got enough shit lying around to build just about anything so why pay $200
 
And karman sensors do count something,the von karman vortices produced inside the sensor.By the way, the von karman streets themselves are pretty cool(on larger scales) you guys should do a search on them.
 
I have seen some cool animations of how that works, cool stuff. I figured if they use a pulsed signal it was for some reason like that, I'll buy it. I therefore stand corrected :)
