Well i have wanted to go with the 3" GM-MAF for a while now, But i like to learn as much as i can before i go ahead with anything. As i read i hear some people say that you will need S-AFC to evan get a decent tune out of the MAF and the Translator. is this true? Yes i do plan on getting a S-AFC latter but what should come first

Sorry to post this im sure its come up 100 times i just came up dry on my search

I've installed the GM MAS and translator on my car. Plug and play, period. No SAFC needed. I haven't even tuned the translator yet and I run rock solid! Plus, I vent my new HKS SSQV to atmosphere, which sounds awesome. Talk about turning heads!

Ok well i was told that if i was to just use the MAF translator i would not be able to get a correct tune, or run rich/lean to the extreme. Ill ask around some more but Thanks for the input man!!!

I haven't used a pocket logger yet, but I imagine some minor adjustments can be made to max out power potential. Otherwise, plug and play, Homie!

The only time you would need a SAFC, is if you had a really extrere setup. The MAFT was designed to mimic the signal from the stock MAF. If you have decently sized injectors (450's-720's) then you will be fine. It's not as good a tune as a SAFC will give you, but it's better than stock.

Homie.:D

Actually, the MAFT will allow for a wider range of injectors than the SAFC. In fact, you can hide up to 65% of the air which allows for like 1100cc injectors.

ok well i plan on getting an AFC down the line but i guess i can go with the MAf trans before the AFC. which is good news for me!!!

You will not be able to 'fine' tune the MAFT without a SAFC. But to add to this, I have a MAFT with a SAFC and the SAFC is zeroed out at all RPMs. The translator will get you very close to a good tune.

i hear that some people say that Idle* is a problem with the 3" Gm-MAF. I dont see why that would be an issue
?

In draw through more, or blow-through?

I know several people using the 3" MAF in the upper IC pipe, and they all say that their cars have never idled better.

Im refuring* to the Blow Through Setup, well someone said that with that 3" GM MAF and the translator made a bad idle, but i would think it would be better, on top of when i had my firt week of my car i Vented Atmosphere and i evan ran good then so i think ill be good!!
