i have japanese spec 1996 eclipse gs-t A/T, i was trying to figure out if i had the ODB II on my car or not. i tried the simple clues like looking for the sticker under the hood, and even tried to look for the connector inside but just couldnt find it. does anyone here know how i can find out if i have the OBD II? coz il be getting the pocketlogger soon. and il be ordering online and will have it shipped all the way to the philippines, so having a pocketlogger that wouldnt work for my car would definitly be a whole lot of trouble for me! :) thanks guys!
 
All 2G DSM's are OBD-II. The connector is underneath the driver's side of the dash on the right hand side, just underneath the end of the plastic trim.

Matt my 95 is OBD-I and I have the S-AFC II Knock feature set and am tuning with it...

Yours is probably OBD-I also...
All early 95's were, another reason why the early 95 is teh ultimate DSM :)

Woah. I don't know how you got an OBD-I. I'd check into that if I were you. Look underneath your hood and check if you have an OBD-II sticker on the underside. If you do, then this makes a lot of sense, and it just means that APEXi found a way to get the knock detect to work using the timing output from OBD-II. If not, then you either had a motor swap done including a 1G ECU, or have one hell of a rare car. Let me know what you find.

As for me, I have one of the first '95's that rolled off of the assembly line ever, (built in April of '94), and I'm 100% sure that I have OBD-2. I have an OBD-2 datalogger running out of an OBD-2 port in my cabin. The software will NOT run without these two things. I also have access to my timing advance, and no knock count. The sticker underneath my hood states that the car is an OBD-2.

I am having a problem with my logger on my 95. It will not respond to the connection. The logger is working fine (verified on another car). Is it possible that mine is also obd1 or some other unheard of version?? The sticker under the hood says obd2 and it has the obd2 plug, but my logger will not work on this car.

what palm? on some of the newer palms, you need to modify the cable a bit (remove 1 pin).

I've never heard of ANY 2g's with obd1, no matter how early they were. I would check for the connector and also check the ecu to see if it is actually a 2g ecu.

also. the safc2 may be recieving data, but it most likely isn't interpreting it correctly. I wouldn't use that to tune.
