datalogger cable question

i purchased the datalogger cable from DSMParts.com, for my pc, and its supposed to plug into a com port but i have a Toshiba Satellite Series laptop and i dont have any com ports, however i took the cable without the interface module and plugged it into my Network card and the TMO software picked up the connection but couldnt read the signals without the interface module, what can i use to connect this to my laptop?

try a serial to USB adapter....maybe you can nab it thru your LPT port with an adapter

i purchased a LPT printer adapter, when i hook the datalogger up it cannot locate the cable though.. TMO software looks for COM ports or whatever.... not LPT ports thats the best reason i can think of
