scantech not working

Ok I have not found 1 thread about scantech when i searched so I had to make my own thread. So my problem is that I bought a 409.1 open port cable from ebay.com and I tried to work mhiscan but it is a pain in the ass to make work so I tried scantech and it looks pretty good but I have not gotten it to connect yet. Can anyone help me with what the problem can be? BTW I am having these problems in my 95.

Or does anyone know of ANY free software? I have tried downloading soooo many and none of them work!!! I have tried mhiscan,scantech, logworks, and scantool. Shit is messed up that it is so hard to make just one work right......
