Hi just swapped a 98 ecu into my 95 gst, changed the plug wires and started but around 2k-3k rpms got a lot of vibration like knock or something, stopped driving the car reeading some post tell have to swap the injector wires on the ecu but nothing its clear

what need to do exactly to get my car running hard as it used with the original ecu?

changing the injector wires will make the car run with no problems?

thanks

From what Ive read you have to have DSMlink. Have you got the random multiple misfire code yet? The CAS signal is inverted from the 95 to 98. I own a 95 I know the firing order is in fact different but you swapped that. If you swap the injector plugs after youve swapped the wires you would be cancelling what youve already done. I believe the BEST cure would be dsmlink.

The reason for the vibrations is most likely due to the car pulling timing from the Random multiple misfire code.

DSM link will not work in a 98 ECU...

Any ways I currently have a 98 ecu and I only changed my plug wires it runs terrible as well but I didn't bother changing the injectors as this is only a temporary set up...

thanks for your responses but my concern is, if I swap the injector wires will my carr run perfectly again?

if you havent gotten any codes from the ecu telling you there is sonrthing wrong with the cam sensor then it will probably be fine when you swap the injector. any time you switch one you have to switch the other.

Here is the same issue with datalogs: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tun...g-order-random-excessive-knock-vibration.html

Quick recap: Some of the wiring orders cause a bad knocking, in 3000-4000 RPM range, so I decided to stay with the old ECU. I'm not really sure that this knocking is healthy, and also 1/8 mile times went down by 0.3 when I switched back to old ECU.

So we must figure out how to swap injector wires for new CAS ECUs in old CAS cars for them to run without putting ton of stress on engine internals.

Concerning plug wires, you could just swap 2 pins at the ECU harness, that's a cleaner solution if you swap them as said in that page. Also, both plugs on one coil fire at the same time.

By the way, if only cam angle sensor (under the timing belt cover) is inverted and the crank angle sensor stays as is, shouldn't that mean we should only swap 2 wires/injectors around, not all 4?

so you couldn´t make the ecu work properly on you car? madman?

No, I couldn't. I tried like 10 different ways of injector wiring, but none of them seemed just right. Expressing that thing on paper also didn't helped.

I also tried the Magnus way, but it didn't seemed right, unless I've mixed up something else.

The CAS signal is still inverted.. When you swap from a 97-99 to a 95 ecu, you have to swap injector wires, and check the "invert CAS signal" box in dsmlink. You putting a 95 ecu into a 97-99, the CAS signal is still going to be inverted from what the ECU is used to seeing.

I suppose you could swap a 95 cam sensor over(under the intake cam sprocket), instead of the 97-99 cam sensor on the other side to make it work.

I will do more research as soon as I'll get some free time. I don't believe it's impossible to make it work.

Is it possible to reach Magnus Motorsports for advice?

I will be researching too really want to use a evoscan tactrix cable reflash possibilities also thinking about getting an evo 8 eco but i am afraid to be the same story

This is late I realize but I swaped a 95 motor into a 98 ( made a cable to reach the CAS ) I swaped the wire position on the ECU harness to get rid of the missfire and the car runs great took about 5 minutes. I didn't have to mess with the injector wires or coil packs just the swaping the pin position of 4 wires in the ECU harness. I don't recall which 4 off the top of my head right now but you can search here and find them I am sure.

From what Ive read you have to have DSMlink.

Seriously, do you own stock in ecmlink?

This sounds more like an issue where the OP needs to switch cam angle sensors to the one that matches his ecu.

edit: Actually ^^Brian/DSMSeifer has the answer for you. ECMLink doesn't do voodoo to your car that is impossible to do otherwise. If you get random misfire it's because something is incorrect, most likely the trigger plate is wrong for the ecu code that is running the car. The answer isn't to "smooth" the trigger signal that goes to the ecu... or whatever magic it is that goes on there.

CAS inversion can be corrected by using the CAS that matches the ECU or by using a circuit to invert the signal (search RRE inverter circuit).

I thought so. Then it is possible to swap plug wires and injectors. I don't need to swap 97/99 or pre 95 CAS as some people suggest?!
