Ahhhhhh EGTs still through the roof with 750s!

Ok guys I dont understand it.... I'm still pushin 10 halfway through 4th gear with 750 injectors!!!! Im running rich as hell but it seems to have had no effect on my egts.... is there something I'm over looking? I mean i have supratt pump, fpr, safc, and injectors, I should have no problem with fuel delivery...... uggg i hate tuning.....
 
Rich will cause high EGTs as well ;)

Edit: and 750s w/ a 16g....ummm kinda overkill, don't you think?
 
yeah thats what I figured, timing had somethinig to do with it. Yes I know they're over kill, but i got a really good deal in them, and they'll have to work till my 650s show up... but i was just concerned with my egts still being through the roof.. at 1k rpms i'm pulling 21 degrees of timing..hehe only a little high.... whats funny is that the egts are exactly the same as when i had the 450s in, which I knew were leaning out.....

I HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 650CC INJECTORS MY EGST WOULD SHOOT UP TO 900C IN THIRD I TOOK OUT THE 650 & PUT IN 550CC IT WORKS MUCH BETTER TOO MUCH FUEL WILL RAISE EGT TEMPS THE FUEL IS LITERALLY IGNITING COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD
IF YOU HAVE ANYWAY OF ADJUSTING INJECTOR DEAD TIME MAKE SURE IT IS CORRECT I HAVE TH ESPECS ON THE CORRECT DEAD TIME FOR THOSE INJECTORS AT HOME ?
 
yeah if you wouldnt mind get me the dead times on 650s and 550s if you have it. I knew too much fuel would cause secondary ignitions in the manifold, i just thought it was weird that it basically ran the same as when i ran the 450s with too little fuel....hmm who knows 550s here I come....
 
on a dsmlink the dead time for 550's& 660's is 180 now that in a 2g my car runs much better with 550's than it did with 650's
 
hmm yeah I have a 1g engine swap...so nothing seems to be "common" on my car...hehe oh well experimentation time here I come...
 
if you are going to go stay with teh big 16g just put in 550's i ran 650's on my 20g & it was to much fuel so i went back to 550's
 
TOOO MUCH Fuel And I bet yoru probe is bad too, This is EXACTLY what happedned to me, My probe was inactuate so I kept adding fuel to get my car to run right, turns out the Probe was shitty, leaned it back and tuned the car Slightly rich and now runs faster then ever. I will completely tune the car after new EGT probe, good luck and get a new probe, you probably killed it from running so rich.
 
i have an 18g, and im about to get some 660s prety soon, should i get 550's instead, i dont want too much fuel. what do u guys think?
 
update: the car is running great on 750s as long as you have an fpr, and an safc you can get 550s-750s to run.... though my idle is a little rough...i'm already checking into the possibility of a bad probe, is there any way to test it??????
 
Call the manufacture of your EGT probe and ask for the resistence of the probe, then measure yours with an ohmmeter, if it isnt withing speak the probe has gone bad, pretty simple really.

I know this is a very old thread but, what base fuel pressure are you running with 750's? I would imagine lower than 38psi so the car don't run so rich. right? Right now I have a 16g so, my guess is I will have to lean it out more than the safc2 will let me in some places. My mods are in my profile if needed. The reason I went with 750's is because I am getting a pte 60-1 bolt on and alot more soon. Thanks for any help. :talon:
 
You need a MEGAMETER to test egt probes! they put power in to heat the prob to test insulation breakdown, get it back to the manufacturer or to a auto electrician that knows what he is doing.
