1G-specific No SAFC?

I have my ECU Chipped for my injectors, is SAFC Really needed? Will the ECU/MAF not make the proper adjustments? Was arguing with a guy at my work about the SAFC II. He thinks I need it, I thoght I did. Just trying to get a good answer.

It's not required, but even Jeff over at DSMChips recommends one, as do I.

Just think of the chip as the piece getting you in the general ballpark, and the SAFC is the key to getting that tune closer to where you want it.

Generalized answers but thats what I thought. Guy at my work is telling me about some other cars that he has worked on and added turbos and fuel system mods and the MAF takes care of the rest. I told him I dont think the stock computer/maf will compensate for such modifications, and if it does it wont be exact and there will be a certain amount of spark knock depending on fuel in certain rpm ranges.
