Palm M100 won't hotsync

I just bought a Palm m100 to log my 1g with. It came with a docking station and has a direct serial cable. When it tries to connect it says that it can't connect to my desktop and to check my setup. I am very new to all this stuff, so any info will help. Thanks

check that the serial port on your comp is enabled

Make sure the Palm Desktop software is installed/running on your computer before you try to hotsync the palm.

I figured it out. Thanks for the help. I didn't have the drivers downloaded onto my computer. Once again dsmtuenrs saves the day.
