Hello, my car has lots of engine mods; pistons, cams, total engine port/polishing, etc., etc., I also have 750s for fuel inj., rechipped ecu...I still have the stock fuel pump, stock O2 housing pipe, stock O2 sensor. I DO have DSMLink. My talon has only 1500 miles on its new built engine and has NEVER been tuned at the dyno or tuned at all with the dsmlink or anything else since it was built. I know it runs very rich. Anyway, here's the question...I need a wideband O2 sensor, a new O2 Housing Pipe, walbro fuel pump (re-wired),....what else??

AND, I want to do all that tuning work in the spring and I want to let my car sit for 3 months because I probably shouldn't be driving it all right or can I just start it every day and drive it around the block to keep it running for the rest of the winter?

Thanks!!

IMHO, you should at least start it once a week and keep it running until fully warmed (fans kick on) if it's not too cold where you live (some places cannot get warmed enough in idle). You engine is past the break-in period so there shouldn't be any damage caused by just a warm-up even if the car isn't tuned to the current setup.

Is the car garaged or outside? This is a big part of my assumption about starting it regularly.

You state that you would like to replace the O2 housing, but your profile says you have one ported. Were you planning on upping the exhaust?

What about your intake system - Have you considered throwing a 2g maf and hard IC piping or switching out for a MAP or GM system?

It's outside in the driveway...no garage.

The guy who built my engine tapped in a new hole in the ported O2 Pipe and I found out that it threw off the sensor's reading because it re-located the sensor to a different spot in the O2 Pipe. I do have an opened exhaust 2.5" complete with a 3" Muffler and a resinator already.

I also have the a K&N air intake but if you check out the engine compartment pic, you can see its still factory housed. I don't know anything about that stuff...any suggestions???

How do you know that the sensor reading is incorrect and not the engine burning the wrong amount of fuel? I would suggest getting a wideband O2 sensor installed further down the pipe that has a 0-1v narrowband emulated signal that will fool the ecu into thinking it's the stock unit. There is just one wire that routes to the ecu pin 4. Then you can plug up the O2 housing altogether and not worry about it.

That old can that's on your filter is going to restrict a lot of the airflow and even without the can the maf is not as efficient on our 1g's.

There are several options to open up intake restrictions - everything from ripping out some of the honeycomb mesh that actually registers the airflow and compensating with an AFC to replacing the entire system with a manifold air pressure system (using only an air temp and pressure sensor) that eliminates the maf and calculates airflow completely differently.

There are advantages to each type, mostly being time, money, and resources, as each of these methods require a great deal of DIY. If you want some ideas, search for each of the following key words: DSMAP, MAF, INTERCOOLER PIPING, ICP, MAFT, MAS

Also, for easier piping methods, check with Dejon. There are a bunch of pics of actual assemblies. DEJON | Powerhouse

He said he has DSMLink so he should be able to get it "ball parked" with that.

The easiest way to get most of your rich problem solved is to go into your fuel table and set the "global" to -35% or so to make up for the 750 injectors which are roughly 37% bigger than stock. The car should behave a lot better at least after that, but i still wouldn't go WOT untill she's tuned properly.

And get a wide band to start dialing in light to medium closed loop driving so you spend less money at the dyno when tuning.

Thanks guys. I will definitely check out the options for the intake housing issue and I'll get started with the dsmlink for the a/f adj.

Oh yea... It runs really rich because it blows black smoke bombs whenever I accelerate from a stop.
